Sorry to say this but I think it is dumb for someone to fork out more money for the Lexus badge which is essentially a humble Toyota. I thought Toyota had a clear mind or direction by distancing the two brands by having two separate design studios or team. This is not good for the Lexus brand and the LFA looks not encouraging at all.

Toyota seems to love awkward bulges and incoherent, odd shapes. But this thing will sell no doubt. The typical 'soccer mom's' car.

Ugly exterior design. Looks cross eyed deer. Ugly interior design. Average driving dynamics like every Lexus, I imagine. If you have sat in any premium German car then sit in this you will be able to tell its just a Toyota with different badges, more chrome, and a few more electronic features!

LOL. They are both pretty ugly. Toyota and Honda are going the way of the Aztek.

This is an ugly car but its overstyled bulging looks arent unusual at the moment unfortunately, to me this is a prime example of current design trend that especially Peugoet is following. Its a shame that scrappage scheme/cash for clunkers is destroying all the simple pure 80s and 90s cars and replacing them with monstrosities like this.

Toyota should sell the Land Cruiser (Prado) in the States for $20k less, instead of forcing Americans to buy this.

Can someone please tell me the point and target audience of this car?
November 23, 2009 6:35 pm
The target audience is non of the people from the comments here. But believe me, this will sell. There are people in the market to buy this car and also the others ugly Toyotas and, as they are number one auto group, it seems that the toyota buyers are in a bigger audience. Now is it stupid or inteligent from Toyota to build this kind of cars? It is not much expensive to hire a decent designer... Are they making these cars in purpose?
We all have a similar opinion regarding to this car, we all seem to have some knowledge about automotive industry, but do we really know the market? I dont...

"...Breaks Cover". You ain't lyin'. It isn't like the GX wasn't ugly before though. No surprise here.

deciofp,
actually VAG (Volkswagen group) is the number one auto group :)
Toyota has lost the race against those Germans!

This has alweighs been the only Lexus model Ive liked... and... I guess it still is...? i dunno. the bck is ugly.

The look is just a matter of taste. Some may like it, others will not, but it certainly is easily distinguishable among other cars. And - unlike European premium SUVs (the point of which I hardly see), except of course for the Land Rover - this one can go off-road...

The short wheelbase and bulky, bulbous styling of Lexus/Toyota SUV's looks out of proportion.
Toyota has decided that bigger is better. Their trucks and SUV's look bigger than all the German or US-built stuff.
Try this - click through the pages here on WCF. Go through German, American, Japanese, European, Asian. When you click on the Japanese page all the cars look like big Anime toys. All the other pages have proper looking (although sometimes not attractive) vehicles on them.

Typisch styling from Toyota. Just weird, thinking they will set a trend. Like when the Lexus IS has the clear rear lights with all the bezels in it, then they switched back to regular rear lights because the Germans didn't care.

yes the exterior is ugly, as does the car its based from ( toyota prado ), but the interior is very luxurious.. i realy like the speed gauges and the centre console looks more practical and better than the toyota prado... the old 2009 model looks far more better...
