Lexus GX 460 to Debut at Auto Guangzhou

Lexus has announced plans to unveil the redesigned 2010 GX 460 at Auto Guangzhou in China.

While details are limited, the GX is expected to be virtually identical to the new Land Cruiser. Despite this, Lexus will undoubtedly spruce up the exterior and add a more luxurious cabin with high tech features.

Under the hood, power will likely be provided by Toyota's 4.6-liter V8 engine with 310 hp and 327 lb-ft of torque. Thanks to the beefier engine and a new six-speed automatic transmission, the redesigned GX should be able to easily outrun its predecessor.

Look for more information to be released when the GX debuts on November 23rd.

TMC to Exhibit 45 Vehicles at Auto Guangzhou 2009

Tokyo-TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION (TMC) announces it will display 45 concept and production vehicles, in separate Toyota and Lexus brand booths, at the 7th China (Guangzhou) International Automobile Exhibition (also known as Auto Guangzhou 2009), to be held at the Guangzhou International Convention and Exhibition Center from November 23 to 30. The theme for the two booths is "The Environment, Safety, and the Future".

The Lexus "GX460", a midsize SUV, will make its world premiere at a press briefing scheduled for November 23. Also on display for Lexus will be the "ES240" and other models. The Toyota display will include the new "Crown", which will go into production and go on sale in China in December this year, the third-generation "Prius" and the "Camry Hybrid".

Furthermore, through the display of concept vehicles such as the short-distance, compact commuter "FT-EV", hybrid sports car "FT-HS" and urban plug-in hybrid vehicle "Hi-CT", TMC aims to present its proactive approach toward limiting CO2 emissions and addressing the diversification of energy sources.

I'm sure you can already buy a Chinese knock-off of this new Lexus from a vendor on the streets of Guangzhou for 36,000y. Hell, I'll bet they even copied the camoflauge.

Are you guys sure you dont mean it will be virtually identical to the new '4Runner' on which its based? The Lexus LX is the one based on the Land Cruiser, if I recall.

It is based on the new Land Cruiser Prado, which in the UK is simply the Land Cruiser, I dont think they get the new Land Cruiser 200 / Lexus LX570 in the UK. The new 4Runner quite possibly uses the same chassis (which has previously been the case), but thats where the similarity ends.

I stand corrected. So it is simply called the Land Cruiser V8 now. For over $100,000 equivalent there, I would want some more distinction in the name from the regular Land Cruiser (Prado) !
