German tuner MTM has launched a performance package for the new Audi TT RS. Under normal circumstances the car produces 340hp (250kW) of power and peak torque of 450Nm (332 lb ft) between 1,600rpm and 5,300rpm. The factory claims a 0 - 100 km/h time of 4.6 seconds.

MTM used the stock 2.5-litre 5-cylinder turbo as a basis. The engine control unit was adjusted and a new exhaust system with new middle- and end- pipes with throttle valves fitted. Not only does it apparently sound great, but it also revs higher and accesses its torque across a wide range of revolutions.

As a result, three stages of power can be ordered. Stage 1 offers 301kW (404bhp) and 550Nm while stage 2 gives out 304 (408bhp) and the same amount of torque. The highest stage offers maximum power of 316kW (424bhp) and 560Nm, does 0 - 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds and achieves a top end of 297 km/h. The car runs on MTM sport wheels with the original BIMOTO design measuring 19-inch or 20-inch.

Press Release (Click to expand)

  • MTM launches the TT RS with up to 84 BHP more than the series car
  • 3 stages of power enhancement with 404, 408 and 424 BHP - Vmax 297 km/h - 0-100 4.2 sec
  • Sport rims with the original BIMOTO design

It is still being good for best lap timing: the MTM Ur-Quattro S1, with its 5 cylinders engine, has once again shown this summer that it gets around the Hockenheimring almost as fast as the Porsche Armada. 25 years younger as the legendary S1 and directly from the same development department, the tuning specialist presents the MTM TT-RS with the rebirth of the 5 cylinders engine as perfect motorization for drivers who like their car being suitable for racing. After the MTM power therapy, the sport car from Audi gets a power of 424 BHP and 560 Nm of torque and shows itself with a new aerodynamic which is based on the Ur-Quattro.

The secret: love for details and understanding of the new engine from Audi. In addition to the adjustment of the engine control unit, MTM has also worked on the exhaust system: new middle- and end- pipes with throttle valves. Moreover, an additional pre-pipe with metal catalyser can be built in. The result: a high-revving engine, lots of torque in every range of performance and an impressive sound thanks to MTM exhaust system technology with throttle valve. A compact sports car which will be good for best lap times and this not only on the small track of Hockenheim.

The MTM TT-RS can be ordered in 3 different stages of power enhancement. Besides the maximal stage of 424 BHP with 84 BHP more as the 340 from the series car, MTM also offer 2 stages with 404 and 408 BHP and 550 Nm. MTM sports rims with the original BIMOTO design in 19 and 20", as well as suitable spacers in 20 mm and 30 mm are available.

can you say turbo lag?

Why would you make out that this has any more lag than the standard RS, which is pretty lagfree on average (ie huge torque from 1600rpm). They have not bolted on a bigger turbo, if anything this is probably more tractable than the factory car.

Peak torque from 1,600-5,300rpm, one of the widest available.

I wonder what the price difference is between stage 1 and 2 given that only 4hp difference with same amount of torque.

I call it the front-engined Audi R8 but too bad it doesn't drive as good as the mid engined car

Nice, I'd take this over an R8 any day. By that I mean the V8 R8, not the V10 one.

well that's stupid.... stage one and stage two, i mean. i wonder how many people will buy the care in thjose stages, and how many will go fo the final one. i think the first two are useless. or if they want stages, they should make only 2. firts 404, next 424. jaysus, you dont have to be a rocket scientist to see that.... do the guys at mtm need a dude on a couch to tell them that?

The max power you choose depend of the $ you want to paid and if you want to change the sound because the only different is the MTM exhaust in its different stages; without (stage1) catback (stage2) turboback (stage3)

The car reduces the turbo lag compare to the stock one, is one of the things MTM takes care during the development of the new electronic map
