Here are some more spy shots of the next-generation BMW 1-Series, currently still in development, caught doing some road testing.

The model seen being tested here comes with a double exhaust pipe on the left side of the rear bumper only. This differs from the previous set of spy shots of a camouflaged 2012 1-Series seen in September with a dual exhaust, a single pipe on each end of the rear bumper, which possibly indicates a turbo or 135i variant. There has also been speculation that the 1-Series may be fitted with BMW's xDrive (all-wheel drive) technology too.

In any case, BMW is definitely developing several variants of the upcoming new 1-Series, and we've also previously reported that one of those variants could well be an M version of the compact coupe/hatchback. The M model will possibly be powered by the same 3.0 liter straight-six engine from the 135i, only dialed up to around 330 hp from the 135i's 306hp. It will sell for around €35,000 in Europe.

Other engines will include a slew of variations on the 2.0 liter diesel, with power outputs up to 204 hp for the 123d variant.
