there is a huge difference between having 536 hp at the wheels like this one and 536 bhp at the flywheel!!
READ THE ARTICLE dont just comment based on the title!

Yeah, cause nothinnnngggggg is cooler than a civic si w 700 hp. No way a people would wanna check out a rare R8 when there's a pimped out 4 cylinder nearby!! Ignorance is bliss, but your just a douchebag.

well I guess as it is the first turbo R8 (German Tuners already equipped it with a supercharger) it's a big thing. and to be honest, 536 rearwheelHP sounds like a good amount to me compared to the stock 420 (or 414 or what ever it is in bhp). the only thing what I don't understand is, is it modified to only have rear wheel drive or are we really talking about allwheelhp?

Why audis are so boring? 4.2 v8 twin turbo pushing only 536hp? why did they bother putting this in the home page?

"According to the engineers, the tuned R8 has a 183 rear-wheel horsepower (rwhp) gain over the stock model." 536-183=353.
A stock R8 has 420 hp, but only puts 353 hp to the wheels. 420-353=67. The stock R8 loses 67hp due to frictional drivetrain losses.
Tuned R8's 536 rwhp plus the 67 "lost" hp = 603hp (estimated) at the crank. This number equates to 147.2 hp per liter of displacement, slighty better the twin-turbo 530 hp Porsche GT2's hp per liter which is 143.
If you don't like doing math you can simply re-read the following lines from the article until your eyes bleed: "Although this is an exciting development for Audi fans, we would also like to know the horsepower rating at the flywheel. Engine dyno figures were not released.

Drivetrain loss is usually a %, in this case 15.95%. The flywheel hp would be closer to 621hp, which /L ~148hp which is pretty darn decent. One thing that you guys must remember is that this is a high compression engine and therefore you cannot expect it to take as much boost as lets say a mustang 4.6L. As you can see it is only running 6psi which is a joke, because the engine already has a 12.5:1 which is pretty huge, USUALLY for a boosted car you want around 9 at most. If you are not impressed with the 4.2L TT then get the 5.2V10 i hear those are good for around 1000hp.

Your forgetting, as power increases, frictional loses also increase, so it would be higher than your estimated figure.

they shouldve just made the R8 stock with this set up it wouldve been soo badass

Audi wanted to put the 580hp V10 turbo from the RS6 in the R8 , but they couldn't solve the overheating problems.

They complain about this car because they'll never have it. That's a lot of horsepower and will make an already amazing car even more amazing. I am interested in seeing some 0-60 and 1/4 mile runs.
