I couldn't agree more. I know it's really an Insignia, but the badge just kills it! At least it will get regular Buick buyers into something much sportier and tasteful than what has existed in the past.

Badge engineering suuuuuuuucks aaaaaaassssss...!
And is also one of the reasons why crapy GM is struggling today...

...I keep reading that comment in different posts saying Opel is GM's only viable marque...and that is not true. Buick is one of the top sellers in China and GM's Asian & Latin american operations are profitable. Opel is restructuring and they asked for help from the German Government. If you are profitable you don't need help, I dont see Toyota or Honda asking for government help. Opel needs to shed at least 10,000 jobs in Germany to reduce expenses in order to become profitable...

Will be built in Germany - bad idea, that was the main reasons why the Saturn Astra wasn't the hit that GM expected it, because of the dollar vs euro fight, the more expensive labor, and the "buy made in the U.S." crowds.

Opel have such knowledge and technology how to build efficient small and medium engiges. Also the chinese Buick looks like a big badge engineering company: Park Avenue (Holden), Regal (Opel), Excelle (Daewoo). The only reason why chinese buy Buicks, because thats Buicks. They wont buy that car with the original bagde. And finally take a look at the South-American Chevrolets.

It irks me to read many of these comments... mostly because it's obvious that many of you have no idea about the American auto market, let alone ever been to America. GM tanked because it badge-engineered and then sold the same cars in America. Look closely at the "new" GM. The Opel Insignia will not be available in any other form here. The Astra tanked because Americans don't like hatches, bottom line.
