You should thank the European division of Ford for making the new fiesta, kuga, euro-focus and mondeo. The American division really sucks at their design. Have you seen the new taurus? Is so huge! Also, the American-focus is full of cheap and crappy plastics.

Despite that, Ford US posted the highest profit of all divisions, despite not commencing sales of any of the European models. But agreed, Ford Europe cars are much better quality and design, mainly because they are much more expensive.
But having said that, the new Fusion is a good car, despite it being a little bland to look at (its competing with the Camry after all, so no harm done), and the Taurus is a great design.

I think that happened because they also counted Lincoln and Mercury as part of the US Division. On the other hand I agree with you that the new fusion is a good car, if they would only kept it down with that chromed grilled...

Well done Ford. Keep up the good work. If you wanna make full profit, then export the Ford Falcon and FPV range out of Australia and bring them to the world stage.

what about the 14million car recall? surely that will kill that profit margin?!

Good to read the company is back to profits...
Did they get rid of their private jets and cut executives salaries, then??
IMO, Toyota (nearly) always makes a profit because the guys at the top don't milk the company!

If they didn't spend much or any of "Other listed items include loans of US$886 million from the US Department of Energy for the development of more fuel-efficient vehicles and a new US$490 million assembly plant in China to build the Focus for that market." Then it would be very easy to post a 997mil net income.

Except that their debt decreased by 2 Billion during the quarter, so even with the loans their profits are genuine, as shown by their operational income from all 4 regions.
