These are the very first spy pictures of the upcoming 2010 Chrysler 300 taken at the company's Technology Centre in Auburn Hills, Michigan. Underneath this SRT8 mule is the brand new vehicle and it looks as if the current LX platform has not changed much in terms of dimensions.

The car was partly previewed in Chrysler's viability plan back in February. A couple pictures appeared as part of the plan but their finality was cast in doubt after essential details like side mirrors were noticeably missing.

Nevertheless, the big sedan seemed to shed its pimp image for a more rounded exterior. The front end looked smooth and less butch. Even the interior looked more upmarket with a good combination of wood panels and leather upholstery. Overall it presented a more executive image.

Fuel economy is said to show a 22 percent improvement but no reference model or powertrain was specified. Engines currently on offer are a 2.7-litre, a 3.5-litre, a 5.7-litre and a 6.1-litre HEMI V8. There is also a 3.0-litre turbo diesel.

With the new Fiat/ Chrysler tie-up, speculation puts the RWD 300 platform beneath future Maseratis and Lancias.  Utilizing a new V6 engine which is slated to debut in the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee, the Lancia version would replace the Thesis while the Maserati would slot below the Quattroporte.

considering it's not changed dimensions at all, it's probably fair to say it's just a revised version of the current chassis...

... which is a revised version of a 2 gen old E-Class chassis.

are Fiat and Maser really gonna want a 20 year old design underpinning their cars??

(i say this with all due respect because i really like the 300C, but it wasn't the last word in driving dynamics or refinement.)

personally I thought the pictures of the next gen looked terrible, yeah it lost it's pimp image but what else did it really have going for it in terms of design? Lose that niche and its just a big boxy overweight sedan, rear wheel drive sure, but as sub39h points out it's rear wheel on a 20 year old platform, that wasn't exactly stellar to begin with. Doesn't bode well for Maserati and Fiat if they have to share chrysler's old hardware, if you ask me it should be the other way around

So what happened with Chrysler's report back when they where asking the bailout help to the US government. They showed two renderings, one from the Grand Cherokee (which turned out to be a true concept after it was unveiled), and the second for the 300C... is not an evolution in design terms rather than just a sloppy redesign... but could this will be the new model? http://www.worldcarfans.com/109021817160/2010-chrysler-300c-2010-jeep-grand-cherokee-previewed-in-viability-plan

I really hope to see a big improvement in terms of engines and gearbox, I mean the 2.7 has a 4 speed. If alfa romeo is going to use this platform it's going to need a 100% modification

This is the 2010 Chrysler 300C not the new redesigned one for 2011
