Michael Schumacher has been tipped for a role at the FIA alongside his friend and former Ferrari boss Jean Todt.
Todt was on Friday elected to succeed Max Mosley as the Paris based Federation's new president, and seven time world champion Schumacher was present as the votes were counted in the French capital.
"He is like a son," Frenchman Todt, 63, was quoted as saying by the Scotsman newspaper. "There has always been a place for him next to me and there still will be."
And despite the bitter battle waged by Todt's opponent Ari Vatanen, outgoing president Max Mosley hinted that the 57-year-old Finn might also find a role at the FIA.
"Jean Todt will have to see if he can find something for him to do," the Briton told USA Today.

I'm a Ferrari fan, but I hope he will be impartial in his rulings because nobody likes a "fake" winer.

Is it me or is this like Star wars - The sith lord and his new apprentice.
To be fair Shumacher has been a legend in F1, I just hope he is impartial. Surely he has to come of the Ferrari payroll if he takes a job for the FIA.......
