Lauda defends Button amid more criticism

This whole thing is ridiculous. Who deserved it more? Button won more races than anyone else. Brawn dominated the season. Button is as worthy a winner as any of the most recent champions who needed to take it to the very last race to bag it.

That is ridiculous. Button had some magnificient passes early in the race, and from there on followed a strategy, much like EVERY other driver does.

Is Button the best driver this season? Probably not. But as a combination of best car and driver, they've won the championship and that shouldn't be taken away from them at all. He deserves the title, just like Brawn deserve the manufacturers title. Great Button indeed!

I agree with scratchy. Button would've had no excuse if he lost it, mainly because he had a great car. No denying that. Brawn really shook up this season and showed Mclaren and Ferrari a thing or two. Do I rate Button as a great driver? No doubt he's way better than myself, but as a championship driver, not really. I'm afraid I'd have to say Reubens deserved it more. Vettel, Webber and Hamilton pulled out some extraordinary drives this season, unfortunately for whatever reason, they couldn't quite clinch it. As Scratchy said, wait til next year to see how good Button is, but to my mind Button got lucky. Either way, coming from the brink of redundancy to winning the championship is an amazing feat, so well done Button & Brawn GP. Enjoy it while it lasts.
