On a final note Cosworth is owned by Audi, hence the relationship with Porsche.

No, Cosworth is owned by a couple of the guys who used to own the Champ Car series.
In the late 90's VW bought Cosworth and retained the powertrain R&D division (Later to be sold to Mahle). They sold the Racing division (which is the one making these engines) to Ford, who ended up selling it to the Americans.
