41 seconds into the clip shows the front bumper almost undisguised

The twin turbo V8 revs quite high too, with unusual sound - are they deploying KERS in the next M5? They're testing the next M5 against the GTR in the Nurburgring? Maybe it's a hint they're working on the xDrive on it too. This baby will definitely kick the overpriced Panamera Turbo S!

I think I speak for everyone when I say that the previous generation (outgoing) was a huge disappointment, especially cosmetically. But this, this is really going to blow us all away. Hopefully it looses some of it's awkward bulk. And a Turbo V-8 is just fine with me vs. the "old" V-10.

no, you definitely don't speak for everybody... I think that the current generation of the M5 is a phenomenal car in absolutely every aspect, and trust me, I'm not the only one who thinks that

You're honestly saying you think that the outgoing 5-series is an aesthetically pleasing car...?

We all know Chris Bangle was the worst thing to happen to BMW's looks, EVER! No one was crying when he left...

I love the outgoing m5, and personally I thought and still think it looks fantastic.

The current 5 is much better than most new BMWs out on the road right now. Nope, you don't speak for everyone. I love the current M5.

well you speak for me, if that's any consolation. i think the previous 7, the outgoing 5, and the current 3 are seriously hideous cars. the new 7 is marginally better, the styling refresh on the 3 (especially with the tail lights), and spy photos of this new 5 show that they are evolving for the better in the styling dept. BMWs haven't been attractive, sleek, and tastefully designed cars, imo, since the e39.

You certainly don't speak for me, or for the thousands of people who bought M5s. I've always liked the E60, particularly with the MSport body kit or the proper M5. And that engine is brilliant, even if you don't like the gearbox it's teamed to. Don't assume everyone shares your opinion, mate.

Well you sure don't speak for me either... Love the current 5-series and of course especially the M5... It's a really classy car that looks a hell of a lot newer and fresher than the same generation Audi/Mercedes (not the new E-class of course - that's comparable to the upcoming 5'er)

Whatever they do, it'd better be good. So far I like what i see though :)

Maybe xDrive is in works for M5? There seems to be some torque measuring device attached to the M5's right front wheel. Looks really promising. To me, there was no wrong in the old M5 (or with the 5series in general) in any way, not even cosmetically. Maybe I had some mixed feelings about it when 5-series was launched, but when standing next to it, it just grew on me.

This car is BMWs way of saying, "We're really pissed that the old M5 got bitch-slapped on the Nurburgring by an American manufacturer of land yachts." As much as I would like for Cadillac to build a response to this new M5 I don't expect that they will, the line has to be drawn somewhere.

the old m5 is brilliant in every way... joshg is delusional... but this one looks very [romising as well

That camouflag makes the rear lights looks like a Camaro lol, I don't care about the number of hp or any of the performance figures, what i care is how this car will look like.

Hmm... is that BMW FOLLOWING Audi's lead of planning a V8 Biturbo instead of a V10 for the next RS6? To every single one of you BMW people out there, eat Audis dust.

I am sorry but you sir FAIL. Audi does not lead although they tried. So much for your overpriced R8 that cant beat a rear wheel drive m3 that produces less power and is nearly 3 times cheaper. I would like to see Audi make an NA engine with similar size that could compete with the m5 or m3. It simply cant.

is that four wheels i see there, wait, dont tell me it has seats.... dude ur argument is pointless... @audilover

So you're saying that BMW is copying Audi, yet the M5 will come out years ahead of the next RS6? Right..

Audi cars goes straight on a straight line but understeers when it comes to corners. Most Audi cars has a poor weight distribution and their steering feels numb. Up till recently BMW builds a really good Twin Turbo engines, dual-clutch gearbox, electronic driver's aid and xDrive. Guess @Audilover is feeling the pressure right now.

Yes!? So these who never used V10 engines but V8-s instead are copying Audi since fifties?

Addendum: Many hours later I finally get to watch the M5 video with sound... Damn! Listening to that M5 circulate the 'ring is like listening to the opening sequence of Top Gun without the Kenny Loggins soundtrack. Was that M5 also being piloted by a short little scientologist? That would explain why the GTR was behind the M5 as opposed to being in front of it: I hear that when the GTR went to pass the BMW on the outside the M5 employed some L. Ron Hubbard-esque wireless electronic trickery and brainwashed the mighty GTR's ECM into thinking that it only produced 195hp.

The engine sounds amazing, don't know about the look at this moment, oh yea and the current BMW E60 is so much better than E39, in every way, (and I own regular BMW 03'E39), BMW GT is ugly, but you CAN'T touch the BMW E60!

Well done, you got a classic M5 with a six speeder. That's a very sweet musclesaloon

It's definatelly fast, but the sound is only good belof 40 mph, above that it's just not loud enough for a M badge. I expected a better sound than the x5/x6M. The 8speed gearbox is even worse. 7 is the allready more than enough. A part from the speed the current one is better.

You don't speak for me either. The E60 M5 is my favorite car of all time, and in my opinion the best looking car of all time. ALso, this new one sounds absolutely terrible. Sure, it will pump out some fantastic power and will most certainly be faster than the E60, but its lost that ferocious F1 sound.

Why do you BMW worshippers have so much hate? You remind me of Sarah Palin, you just follow and spew BS without abandon. Depending on which report you read, the V8 biturbo RS6 may come out BEFORE the next M5, with the V8 biturb, not years after; M5 V10 5.0L vs R8 4.2L (NOT R8 V10, mind you); R8 3x the cost of a M3... not in the US, not even close.
