Thanks to our "send a tip" function a WCF user has sent us this awesome video of the next-generation BMW M5 in camouflage. Internally codenamed the F10, this car will mark a seismic shift in philosophy for the Bavarian marque as it employs turbo technology in an M sedan.
Partly shot at the Nurburgring the clip takes us through just under four minutes of footage. At 00:59 you'll seen a Nissan GT-R seemingly chasing the M5. What a future battle that will be for motoring media. At several points in the video, particularly at 3:17, the turbos can be heard spooling up and pitching quite high.
BMW begins selling the new 5 Series globally in 2010 and the M5 should follow around a year later. It is thought that BMW's 4.4-litre twin turbo machine will also do duty for the bahnstomer but instead of 300kW (408hp) or 408kW (555hp) it will produce something close to 430kW (585hp).
Speculation is that an 8-speed sequential transmission will send all power to the rear wheels with the assistance of an electronic differential. To improve driving dynamics and fuel efficiency, weight will be kept as low as possible using sophisticated light body construction materials.

But this, this is really going to blow us all away.
Hopefully it looses some of it's awkward bulk. And a Turbo V-8 is just fine with me vs. the "old" V-10.
No one was crying when he left...
BMWs haven't been attractive, sleek, and tastefully designed cars, imo, since the e39.

To me, there was no wrong in the old M5 (or with the 5series in general) in any way, not even cosmetically. Maybe I had some mixed feelings about it when 5-series was launched, but when standing next to it, it just grew on me.

Damn! Listening to that M5 circulate the 'ring is like listening to the opening sequence of Top Gun without the Kenny Loggins soundtrack. Was that M5 also being piloted by a short little scientologist? That would explain why the GTR was behind the M5 as opposed to being in front of it: I hear that when the GTR went to pass the BMW on the outside the M5 employed some L. Ron Hubbard-esque wireless electronic trickery and brainwashed the mighty GTR's ECM into thinking that it only produced 195hp.

ALso, this new one sounds absolutely terrible. Sure, it will pump out some fantastic power and will most certainly be faster than the E60, but its lost that ferocious F1 sound.

They're testing the next M5 against the GTR in the Nurburgring? Maybe it's a hint they're working on the xDrive on it too.
This baby will definitely kick the overpriced Panamera Turbo S!
