Take the body throw in the subaru AWD and a Twin Turbo version of the 5L V8 from the IS-F and you got yourself a GT-R competitor. As it stands right now this isnt very impressive.

Good to see Toyota building an interesting car, at last... Let's face it, they never lacked the funds so what's been going on...?? Company's been run by non-car enthousiasts, or something?
My last fav Toy was the first (and only the first) MR2. This one part developed by Subaru so my hope is it handles well...

Something like that I guess, Toyota's new CEO, Akio Toyoda apologized for the Lack of Profit, Floor Mat Scare, closure of the NUMMI Plant and Boring Cars!
When the FT-86 goes into production, at least they'll have an affordable (exciting?) RWD Toyota.

...forgot: hope Toyota don't do something stupid and price it too high!

it looks nice- with subaru basis surely a whole range of WRX/STi and 4 wheel drive options will be possible.
theres great potential.

I love this. I'll take one of the turbo'd versions in cherry black.

Can designers not design something that isn't so over the top that the concept will never be made in production. this front end is just horrible. Ok so the concept gets a go ahead, now it's going to take another year or two for fine tune the final design. Why not design a car that is a concept but also ready to hit the streets.

Ladies and gentleman, this is the Toyobaru, I want one, but this won't be enough to beat the Genesis Coupe, so keep working Toyota, I wonder how the Subaru version of the car will look.

This is EXACTLY the type of vehicle that Toyota needs to start building again. And I love the fact that it comes with Subaru underpinnings. Build it! Build it! Build it!

Budget priced GT-R. I wonder if Toyota will take it rallying? Possible only once they pull out of F1.

Many rumors are saying that Toyota is aiming for Le Mans in 2010, so I don't think so, they could take the Corolla to WRC instead.

i would buy one with the turbo boxer STi engine. 160bhp will be boring.

why can't they let the italians design their cars? toyota, lexus and subarus are known for their weird looking cars.

This will be a great car. I think they will make a hybrid version to compete with the Honda CR-Z.

i agree with Targa Florio is this the new AE86?? what the FT stand fo?? Future Toyota 86??.. it looks awsome the front looks a little like the lexus LF-A still either way i like dont like the fact though the subaru had tu put one there engines i mean its cool and all but now instead of going back the roots with toyota tunning we have to go back to pro-drive roots its still good though i just think that it should have that toyota heritage

So if it's the spiritual successor to the AE86, does that mean it's RWD? If so, hooray, and that's where its agility will come from. One can then assume the Subie version will have AWD. Most exciting Toyota news in years, and not bad news for Subie fans either.
