Redesigned XK to grow in size?

New details have emerged about Jaguar's long-rumored entry-level XE roadster.

According to AutoCar, the roadster will likely adopt the rectangular grille used on the XF and XJ sedans. While a modified version of the E-type grille was expected, designers couldn't get the retro grille to mesh with the styling direction of the new XK and XE.

Insiders are also reporting there is an internal debate as what size the new XK should be. One faction wants the XK to be larger, so it can properly challenge the Maserati GranTurismo as a legitimate four-seater. While this would add greater price and size distinctions between the XK and XE, some believe the XK should remain faithful to its current form.

Regardless, both models are expected to ride on an updated version of the XK's aluminum chassis.

I'm really looking forward to everything that Jaguar has to offer in the near future.

Tata has done an amazing thing with this company, great job!

Doesn't look as good as the XK180 & F-Type concepts of 2000. They could have been the best Jaguars ever produced...

no chance against a BMW Z4 (same as the X-Type vs 3 Series)

but nice try

That's some talent you have, being able to interpret the ride, handling, pace and pricing of a car they haven't built yet.

Can you tell me how my Christmas lunch will taste?

give credit to Ford for subtsantially helping Jaquar the models you see now, new V8, the new XF & XJ were developed under Ford ownership...it will be interesting to see Tata's direction for the redesign in a couple of years and the replacement vehicles.

intresting, either way they go with in size. but in my opinion i would remain faithful to its roots and stay the same size as the others.

Why they don't call it XR (Roadster) so if there is a Performance version they can call it the Jaquar XRR... it think it souds great!

My problem really lies with the fact that the words entry-level and Jaguar should not be used in the same sentence.

why not ? Jag isn't doing well, it's either this or going bust. and this car looks good.

I agree- entry level and jag not a good idea, if they want to stick with their roots, but on the same accord, neither should Porsche, Ferrari, Bentley, and Rolls, but... here we are - it must be the money thing...

As for me- I wanna see this thing first, an artist rendering will not suffice to really get me excited.

It's also a rendering from an American magazine which explains why it looks like the results of a cat eating half a dozen roadsters/sports cars and then vomiting them back up.

I love this design but i really think jaguar should sticks to its roots who cares about the maserati gran turismo jaguar is made with luxury and simplicity and we all love the jag for that the maserati are beautiful but they just dont cut it like the jag. the jag is faster than the maserati anyways and to me it looks better i think this should be the future XK compact light and sporty!
