An official of the printer company Canon has refused to rule out a longer-term sponsorship of the British formula one team Brawn.

The firm's red logo was featured prominently on the sidepods of the Mercedes powered cars in Singapore, in a one-off deal with the company's Singapore arm.

But it was rumoured in the Singapore paddock that Canon's Tokyo based parent may be interested in reviving its full association with formula one, which dates back to a prominent deal with Williams in the 80s.

"All we know is that Canon worldwide will be watching this weekend's events with great interest and we'll see the feedback later," Canon Singapore director Andrew Koh told the Straits Times newspaper.

I didn't notice their name on the cars I have to say. That's not so good. I remember Canon foundly from their days sponsoring Williams when Mansell was there.
