A petrol in-line six? From where? Does JLR have access to such a unit?
If they are going to fit a larger petrol engine -- which seems against the efficenicy mantra -- then I'd have guessed on the 3.0 V6 from the Jaguar XF.
I hiope they keep the looks and neat eatures of the concept. If they do this thing is going to be a runaway success.

The 3.2-liter petrol inline six is the only engine available in US version of the LR2 (Freelander 2).

Is it a stretched Focus or chopped 626 (I'm guessing the former)? Cheap design details, dated radical styling, and who wants a coupe crossover?
Engineering a product too quickly and sitting on the idea for years has produced a poor result IMO.

It looks totally different from concept vehicle. No similarities! Ok, no one expected to keep those futuristic small side mirrors, but please, test mule is totally different vehicle - check back/front. Concept looks sensational!

What they have done here is take one of the most revolutionary design concepts we have had in a long time, completely betrayed EVERYTHING that was appealing about the design so that they could create a me-too compromised design that looks like a Ford, Mazda, CRX, you name it. What a disaster.
The reason that LR is not in a leadership position is because it is too stodgy. Take a lesson from Jaguar LR or you will continue to be an obscure brand for an eccentric client base.
