Mercedes has announced the SLS AMG will appear in the PlayStation 3 video game Gran Turismo 5.

Said to be "just as impressive in the game as it is in real life," the developers used "extremely realistic rendering techniques" to capture the essence of the new supercar. Besides the exciting visual effects, gamers will be able to race the SLS AMG on a number of different tracks including the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

While no release date has been set, Gran Turismo 5 is expected to be launched on December 29th (in the US).

As we have previously reported, the Mercedes SLS AMG features a naturally aspirated 6.3-liter (6,208cc) V8 engine with 420 kW (571 hp) and 650 Nm of torque. The engine is connected to a 7-speed double-clutch transmission which enables the car to rocket from 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 317 km/h (197 mph).

Gran Turismo 5 is at least 3 years late to market and I don't even care anymore. Sony is too lazy or too stupid to realize that "time-to-market" is everything in this competitive market. Nobody is expecting "100% perfect" game and no such thing exists. No wonder Sony is going down the drain these days....

Sony doesnt make Gran Turismo or has anything to do with the game buddy, Polyphony does. And Sony going down the drain? What are you smoking?

"Polyphony Digital Inc. is a subsidiary of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc., and is a software developer entity." check it out yourself if you don't believe me. http://www.polyphony.co.jp/english/ Do us all a favor, check fact first before you post. Sony is no way near what they were a decade ago, mostly due to their own arrogance and constantly missing critical market opportunity. GT5 is a good example. It was supposed to be one of PS3's launch games but instead we've been watching their stupid teaser trailers for more than 3 years now. Few months delay on product is understandable. Delay of more than 3 years, they need their heads examined. Regardless of what products a company makes, there are 3 golden rules to be followed; "Quality", "Speed" and "Cost". If you screw up on any one of these, you are doomed.

Wickedated , Sony is losing billions, the recession has hit them hard.they are closing factories and cutting jobs, the PS3 alone has losses of a few billion dollars.

This probably all the Lexus LF-A's fault. Polyphony are just waiting for that to be shown so they can render it in GT5.

Well I think it really is not as beautiful as the SLR and it doesn't give you the feel of a hyper car....as the SLR does.

Why dont they just release the game and have the car updates available for download? that way the game won't be released so late and at the same time the car will always be updated.
