I guess its ok, since its supposed to be an affordable entry-level car.

It's the old Fiesta alright, but heavily updated inside and out.

It looks a bit boring and small, but since it's for India, it could work.

why can't they just make the new fiesta in india?
why an updated version of the old fiesta?

Cost, cost and cost. The traffic jams are already bad enough as it is. And this old Fiesta isn't a bad car.

I'm Indian (but British though because I was born here) and I think this is a perfect car to send there. They probably wanted to use this shape because it's gotta be designed to deal with rough stuff. And cheaper than the old Fiesta too most probably. It speaks for itself.

International manufacturers find India and SE Asia great places to do this kinda thing - sell the old and new versions side by side as 2 separate cars. They do it with the Mitsubishi Lancer n Pajero, Suzuki Alto n WagonR, Hyundai Santro(Atos), Getz and Accent, and now this. It's because most of us (yes, I'm Indian - from India) appreciate practicality and value for money far more than styling and modernity. And yes, our roads are rubbish so cars don't last long, so we don't have much of a second-hand market, so it makes sense to make tougher, cheaper new cars - even if they aren't new. Although I don't belong to this 'most' category and I hate the idea of being given generation(s)-old cars. I find it insulting. They will sell the new Fiesta (both in saloon and hatch form) in India soon, but it's bound to cost more than twice as much as this Figo thing. Ugh.

Considering it's for developing markets, if the price is low, it should be better than some other Indian offerings!

I think its supposed to be priced close to the smaller city cars like the Hyundai i10. The most important thing is they used a good car as a starting point.
