If the SLS isnt gull wing anymore and the SL is hard top with metal roof. I dont see the point of both cars doing the rounds and mercedes benz is shooting themselves in the foot with two cars very silimar, only difference is the hard top roof and looks like fabric? Yeah i know the SLS has more power, not alot over the SL63. Im not sure i like this SLS, for me it would have to have something totally different to the SL for me to buy it, anyone else got the same idea with the two cars??

maybe they will replace the SL 65 AMG with the SLS cabriolet.

Exclusivity will be the reason to produce both cars. The SLS is produced in very small numbers, and it will outperform the SL because of the low overall weight and the weight distribution. SL's are a dime a dozen in big cities around the US. SLS's will be very rare.

it doesn't make sense to produce them in small numbers if the demand is high. i think the demand of the SL 65 will diminish once the SLS cabrio comes out. do you think someone who wants a SLS will buy a SL just because he will have to wait longer until his car arrives ?

Demand for the SL65 is practically non existant right now. People who are buying the AMG V12 are buying S65's and CL65's. I worked for M-B for a couple of years and can't recall one person ordering an SL65. But we moved a few CL and S65's. Plus, the SLS will hold it's value (hopefully) much better than the AMG 65's. The value on 65 AMG's plummets after the sale. The McLaren didn't hold any value either, I think because it didn't live up to it's price tag. The SLS is much less expensive than the McLaren, and will probably outperform the McLaren and will definitely outperform for SL65 Black series.

The SLS is a pure AMG car. This is showing what AMG can do. Its nothing like the SL with the Technology that is involved.
