Range Rover isn't a company. You mean Land Rover.
Agreed we don't need to see a X-Type replacement. Concerned volumes wouldn't be high enough on just a coupe though.

"Agreed we don't need to see a X-Type replacement."
Why? This market segment is where both BMW and Merc make most of their sales & profits. If Jaguar failed there, that's their own fault. Easy (and common practice) to blame the market for one's failures & incompetence . . .

I think we're both agreeing that Jaguar couldn't make a success in that sector. And that was then they had more resources than they do now (Ford platforms and supplies). It's not likely they can significantly change their fortunes in this sector going forward. I just can't see how they can make the money they need to in the markets that are key when their costs will be high, their volumes low and coming from nowhere in the market.

i do understand that car companies are about profit, and rightly so, but i think that after Jag drops the X-Type they should leave out smaller models and go for more high end stuff... i like this low volume British Maserati thing they've got going at the moment (bar the new XJ which looks odd) and it would be a shame to ruin that...
i also think that the kind of car that competes with the A5 will also have to have a variant that competes with the S5 and RS5, and then it would step on the toes of the XK too much

i know what will happend,Jaguar will be closed because of this.they want to make a good car so it costs money, but i know it no 3-series buyer will get a X-type!!

hmm... i can understand why the x-type wouldn't be replaced
but i think jaguar should build a replacement to the E-type instead of building an entry level coupe

I agree that Jaguar should focus on building on their perception of exclusivity. Thats more so in alignment with Jaguar's initial brand values.

A smaller Jag would be great if they can make sure its better than than the 3series,performance wise and better mpg

If they made a car to compete with the 3series I don't think that it would be impossible but then again who would they market it towards? Any suggestions? Most young professionals that I know it's either BMW,Merc or Lexus.
