Next Generation BMW M5 Prototype Shows its Face

New BMW M5 Caught Testing for First Time - On Nurburgring

Lo and behold, the next-generation BMW M5 F10 prototype spied testing at the Nürburgring has finally lost some of its heavy plastic cladding on the front end.  In its place BMW has plastered their almost famous psychedelic wrappings. Now we can see the overall design of the front bumper fascia, more specifically, the magnitude of the air intake pockets.

Just in case you were skeptical of its M5 intentions, giveaway signs include the four round tailpipes BMW exclusively assigns to all current and recent M cars plus the large brakes with cross-drilled rotors all around.  Also, is that a power bulge on the hood?

As for the engine, speculation has it that the new 4.4-litre twin turbo seen in the X6 M and X5 M with 555hp will be used. Not as powerful as the current segment power-king the Audi RS 6 V10 quattro with 420kW (571hp), however, BMW tends to make up for the power deficiency in driving dynamics.

As we lead into the winter testing season spies will sooner or later be able to gather more accurate information about the powerplant.

It's possible this could just be the new 550i with the twin turbo 4.4 liter from the new 7 series and the X6.

Not by the size of those brakes, it's the M. Looks promising but also heavy.

Really like the look of this one, front looks really aggressive with the camouflage. Eagerly waiting for the specs.

I think it will be stronger than X5/X6M, because they also said that the X5/X6M will have 445hp from the E65 7 series...

Promising profile. It will be perfect if the front can look nearly as good as the profile.

Don't know if i'm liking the new concept. I've always believed in BMW not to disappoint. I own 2006 130i and 2007 M5. Magic to drive, raw power staight from the engine. but turbo charged engines just don't excite me. Now i have nothing to brag about to my mates who drive Audi if we all using Turbos. This is disappointing!!!

I saw a power dome on the hood. Would this new M5 happens to be a Hybrid car so it can improve power and fuel economy at the same time? Just guessing *O*!
