It's okay, but to me it actually looks _less_ agressive than the standard GTI, just like the previous-gen R32, which looked more Jetta-ish than uber-GTI.
Completely disagree, the new GTi has a lot more presence than the old one with that muscular front intake.
I think the wheels would be more suited to a Golf 1.4, how boring. R32 is much better looking imo. And the power output? 6.5 seconds? Is that it?
The rear looks excellent, I can't wait for some tuning company to put in the v6, because this engine is just not done. Why buy this if the GTI has basically the same engine?
2.0L, with 265hp, not too shabby. If you asked me that 2.0L should have been a 2.5 I-5, turbocharged, belting out 300+ hp with an alias of "R25". But what do I know? I'm just one person of the consumer population. So how much is VW asking for this?
The upcoming R sure looks great all round...glad to hear VW has kept the trademark 4 motion AWD system and that makes the R different from the GTi...the new wheels sure are an improvement though...other option would be a set of 18's VMR VB3 imo... :)
With 199kW (up 15kW over the R32) and a quicker-reacting all-wheel-drive system, the Golf R accelerates from 0-100km/h in a claimed 5.5 seconds when the engine is mated to a six-speed dual-clutch automated manual. (5.7sec six-speed manual.)
