Rosberg to drive silver Brawn in 2010

Nico Rosberg is going to switch to Brawn to drive a silver-coloured car in 2010, according to the authoritative Swiss publication Blick.

In an article penned by the well-connected journalist veteran Roger Benoit, it is claimed that Mercedes will allow its contract with McLaren to lapse at the end of 2011, and by then the German manufacturer will own 75 per cent of Brawn GP.

Blick said the Brawn buyout is in conjunction with Arab partners, and will see the Brackley-built cars painted silver and with prominent Mercedes branding as of 2010.

Benoit also wrote that Rosberg is in fact not heading to McLaren, the British team that is currently 40 per cent owned by Mercedes, but to Brawn, despite chief executive Nick Fry saying recently he was happy to keep Rubens Barrichello alongside Jenson Button.

Rosberg said coyly last week that although still with multiple options for 2010, he had now at least honed in on one in particular.

"Nico is an option," Mercedes' motor sport president Norbert Haug said on Tuesday. "He is a candidate."

I'm sure the in-fighting over the SLR and the release of Mclaren's MC4-12C didn't help the Mclaren/Mercedes relationship.

actually if you listen to ron dennis and others who are now involved in mclaren's road car operations, they said that they learned a lot from m-b about how to build a mass production super car through the slr collaboration. the slr is the world's best selling super car (even though it fell below m-b's expectations) in terms of units sold. given these facts and statements, i don't think the slr had anything to do with the souring of the relationship. i think it has more to do with m-b's dissatisfaction earlier this season with the mcmerc race car despite the brawns doing so well with the same benz powerplant. the current car, as hamilton himself has stated, lacks the downforce of the brawns and others making it harder to win.

On the track, Brawn GP is outperforming McLaren-Mercedes... and its also powered by a Mercedes engine. I guess Mercedes wants a piece of the winning (better?) team.

Finally Mercedes have the man to run their Formula One outfit that they have been chasing for years and years. Hopefully they keep Rubens. He's shown that when the chips are down and there is competition that he can perform. Rather than Jenson and his choking.

I think this has more to do with the controversy surrounding McLaren and the spy thing and then the latest lie scandal. I can't blame Merc for not wanting to be associated with them anymore.
