With the Frankfurt Motor Show less than a week away, new images have leaked showing Ford's Grand (seven-seat) C-MAX.

Like the five-seat model, that was officially unveiled earlier this month, the Grand C-MAX adopts Ford's 'kinetic' design. While much of styling is identical, the seven-seat C-MAX features an increase in length, a sliding rear door, and a redesigned greenhouse. Ford has also eliminated the sloping roof to allow for improved headroom for third row passengers.

Regardless of the exterior design changes, the cabin appears luxurious and modern. The button-intensive dash is dominated by a massive control knob which operates a small display screen. Other features include contrast stitching, a separate display for climate control functions, and a push button ignition.

Engine options will include the usual petrol and diesel units from Focus and Kuga, as well as Ford's new 1.6-liter EcoBoost.

As we have previously reported, Ford is considering bringing the C-MAX to North America. While nothing is official, Ford is likely watching American's attitudes towards SUV replacements.

Looks good, much better than it did in silver. But isn't the 'grand' C-max meant to be the S-max?

No. The S-Max is 200mm bigger than the larger compact MPVs. I guess the cars will be around 4300-4400 for the regular and 4500-4600 for the larger, vs 4768 for the S-Max.

Ford:

Bring this thing to the U.S. and do it now. This looks like the perfect vehicle to wean Americans away from SUVs. For years the ignorant-as-a-whole American consumer has been led to believe that they need a 7000lb towing capacity just to bring home a couple of bags of groceries from the store. Its your job to convince us otherwise. You guys remember that Model T you built a few years back? Sold pretty well didn't it? People bought it because it satisfied a need, not a want. Give us what we need.

This is a nice evolution of Ford's kinetic design. This MPV discounts all other notions of MPVs being boring to look and drive at first glance. Having said that, what's on with the blue theme in the instrument console? Looks a tad tacky IMHO. Overall, I like what I see. What happened to the S MAX?

I see there are no pictures of the rear, I can see why. It's just too ugly.

Love the exterior and interior! I honestly think they should fit the sliding rear door on the larger Galaxy, too! :o
