A quick shout out to WCF reader Teg, for sending us a tip about the next generation Audi A6 mule caught testing in Romania.  The C7 A6 is rumored to be released January 2011, if Audi is still sticking to the previously leaked Roll Out Schedule.

Teg's net friends at clubaudi.ro spotted the A6 mule in Iasi, Romania, where the car tends to make a local home at the Continental Engineering Centre before being sent off to other facilities.

The C7 A6 should get the next generation Aluminum Steel Space Frame, which will help the car shed a significant amount of weight, while increasing rigidity by nearly 50%.  This will improve performance, and likely decrease fuel consumption.

Thanks again to Teg, and Club Audi Romania.

that's a good place to test suspensions , the roads in Romania are designed to break any army that tries to invade Russia.

Couldn't agree more...although I am quite surprise that Audi is here in Romania to test a car and also, without some evident disguise. Hope they will find ''the test area'' a bit more realistic than a premade one :P

lol out of all places that's the reason why... hahaha... and looks like it's going to get a wider wheelbase!

You mean wider TRACK. Wheelbase is the plain between the front and rear axle lines.

the current audi's line seem to be tiring. look at the rendering, it is really not so exciting. perhaps there have been too much repetition in the family line in the model range for these few years.

Germans love playing safe with their cars don't they? the current car is an evolution of the previous model which was groundbreaking. here's hoping.

audi is unbearably boring.. the design has been the same for over a decade.

agree with fattychris and M!. if this is what the new A6 will look like then why bother... i understand this is just an unconfirmed rendering so i really hope walter de silva pulls his pen out and designs something good and new instead of just using the photocopier.

I like it. Audi is the last keeper of German elegance and understatement. I'll take it over an E class.

The rendering looks the same as the current model, so whats new in the design?

Im not sure that I even beleive that this is a test mule because its evidently the current model just with wide fenders. Especially since those rear lights are of the pre-facelift A6. For 2009 the A4 and A6 both have slightly different designs so the one pictured here is actually of the one before that.

The new audi's with longer wheelbase look better, It's a bit weird though why vw doesn't have that, atleast not yet.
