Racing legend Walter Röhrl likes the Porsche Panamera Turbo.

In the video Röhrl gives us a tour of the Panamera Turbo and then takes it for a nice, easy ride with a full load of passengers in tow. He says he's impressed with the efficiency of the 4.8 liter, twin-turbo, 8-cylinder engine with 500 hp and the smoothness of the 7-speed PDK double-clutch transmission.

That may be the PR division talking but it's hard not to recognize how unique this Panamera is as a 4-door sport coupe with the kind of luxury and technology features it comes with - features such as the Launch Control and a chassis control with rear-differential lock which help maximize performance.

Röhrl later takes the Panamera onto the track at Porsche Leipzig to show us how the all-wheel drive Panamera Turbo, which does the 0 to 100 km/h sprint in 4.2 seconds and has a top speed of 303 km/h, can handle itself on the track. In his expert hands, it looks real easy.

"I don't know of any other car that gets the balance between comfort and sportiness as right as the Panamera," says Röhrl.

He may be right but he's in a privileged position and most car enthusiasts won't ever get a chance to see it for themselves. They will have to settle for the web videos.

Thankfully VW intends to kill this vehicle off after its 7 year cycle because it is an abomination and a disgrace to the Porsche marque.

why should VW be so stupid and kill it in the future? with the Panamera VW has an amazing platform for other cars in their line-up (bentley, bugatti) in years to come. i mean it cost Porsche billions to develop it and except for the back (which can easily be fixed for the next generation, like the next cayenne who will be much more appealing) the car is an amazing piece of engineering. it makes no real sense to kill the cayenne or panamera.

@ catchmyshadow I agree that the platform should be used for other VW brands. Maybe I would feel differently if they would redesign the rear. Your definitely right that would be the best way to make use of the large investment that has already been put into the development of this car. I still dont like that they have exploited the Porsche name for a quick buck in both instances (this and the cayenne).

This car is the worst looking model from Porsche. Even tuned up, this awful car can't look good.
