BMW will be presenting the M6 Competition Limited Edition at the Frankfurt motor show next week (September 15 - 27).

The M6 Competition will be limited to only 100 units and features the pure performance that is the M6 along with the set of luxury options offered by BMW Individual.

The special edition M6 Competition comes with a new spring and damper set-up that lets it sit 12 mm lower at the front and 10 mm lower at the back. It will also feature a new combination of rims and tires the details of which will probably be released at the premiere in Frankfurt.

The matte paint in a metallic Frozen Grey from BMW Individual will dress the M6 Competition on the outside.

For the interior, a Merino leather finish adorns much of the cabin. It is available in two color schemes - Black with light-grey seams or in a double-tone Silverstone and Black with light-grey and black stitching.

Each M6 Competition will come with a placard on the roof lining inscribed with the vehicle's own serial number.

More details will likely follow upon the debut in Frankfurt.

BMW M6 Competition Limited Edition

Supreme Performance, exclusive look

The BMW M6 Competition Limited Edition is being presented for the first time at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show.

The BMW M6 Competition Limited Edition combines the supreme dynamics of a high-performance sports car and the exclusive features of BMW Individual to form a truly fascinating symbiosis. Appropriate modifications of the suspension further enhance the profile of this unique Coupé designed from the start for maximum performance.

New set-up of the springs, dampers and anti-roll bars, together with the body lowered by 12 millimetres/0.47" at the front and 10 millimetres/0.39" at the rear, together with a new combination of wheels and tyres, optimise both lateral and longitudinal dynamics to a standard never seen before. The suspension control systems, the control unit masterminding the EDC Electronic Damper Control, wheel track and camber as well as the map controlling the variable M differential lock are all geared precisely to these special modifications of the suspension.

The colour concept featured both outside and within the interior highlights the unique character of this outstanding two-door in a most stylish manner, emphasising the motorsport technology and uncompromising premium quality of the car. BMW Individual matt paintwork in Frozen Grey metallic accentuates the powerful and, at the same time, exclusive presence of this unique Coupé.

The BMW M6 Competition Limited Edition is being built in a production run of just 100 units. The exclusivity of this very special model is further symbolised by a special placard on the roof lining bearing each car's serial number as a unique achievement in automotive technology.

The interior of the BMW M6 Competition Limited Edition is available in two colour variants. BMW Individual all-leather upholstery in Merino comes either in Black with light-grey contrasted seams or in twin-tone Silverstone/Black with light-grey and black seams forming a special contrast.

Merino leather comes on the seats, the headrests and side panels at the rear, the instrument panel, the trim cover on the driver's side, the glove box, the armrest, the handbrake lever gaiter, as well as the door and side panels. The door closing handles, in turn, are finished in black nappa leather.

On the twin-tone model the seat centre sections as well as parts of the door and side panels as well as the door closing handles come in black, all further elements are in Silverstone. On both versions footmats with a surrounding bend in Silverstone Merino leather as well as door cutout trim proudly bearing the "M6 Competition" model designation add the final touch to the exclusive ambience of the car.

Sorry, no M3 CSL. BMW traded it for a fresh pair of uselessness by building a X5 M and X6 M instead...

Looks stunning, especially that paintwork. Wish they would tweaked the car a bit more.

The car is superb and the beauty of such a concept is that BMW respects the car's powerplant by not adding modifications. The V10 is more than enough and it should be kept as is in order to preserve its value.

You are speaking as if BMW is some sort of aftermarket tuner. If BMW upped the power, no value would be lost.

this comment makes no sense on so many levels. why would the powerplant's value be hurt if the maker of the engine made it more powerful? is power a depreciant?

on an unrelated note, i've never understood why you have to fiddle with iDrive, go through multiple different menus to access the v10's 500hp. and then there's not just a straight 500hp, there is a 500hp plus. what the hell is the difference?

why don't they just give me an "efficiency mode" that keeps the revs down for better fuel economy and a "performance mode" that gives me higher revs for spirited driving. this type of technology is just irritating.

BMW is nuts to take the 5.0 V10 away.

CSL isn't really about power buffs, yes there are some minor ones, but its about being lightweight and nimble, something the huge M6 cannot pretend to be. CSL would only fit a 3 or 1 series right now.

Lame. I was hoping for an M6 CSL of sorts.

very disappointing. exactly what does M6 have to do with the word "Competition" ???

this is what M-B and BMW do these days, instead of making a car that is truly special (Black Series excepting) they just offer different trim colors, a different paint, slap some carbon fibre trim here and there and call it a "special," "performance enhanced," "competition" version when all they've really done is lowered it or added a god damn lap timing clock.

i agree about BMW , but MB releases the SLS and if the SLR Stirling Moss isn't something special enough for you , then what is ?

The only thing I like about this "special edition" is the interior, even if it looks like it was designed by a stormtrooper

Love everything about the car BEST ENGINE EVER but it would be more reasonable to selebrate the end of the naturally aspired ///M V10 to increase the power +100hp at least or introduce a CSL model of the M6.

That would be fantastic.

the V10 won the engine of the year award, but that's nothing special , BMW has won that award many times. i would not call that the best engine ever. the BMW V12 in the McLaren F1 could be a contender for the best performance engine ever.
