Porsche Panamera Platform to be Shared with Other VW Brands - report
Lamborghini Estoque Concept

VW has a host of luxury brands which could benefit from the Panamera platform including Audi, Bentley and Bugatti

VW is already looking to Porsche for more platform sharing after its takeover of the German sports car brand.

According to Inside Line, Porsche will be sharing the Panamera platform with parent company VW, even though they had previously declared the intention of never coupling Panamera production with any other brand.

Sources would not reveal to Inside Line which VW brand the Panamera platform would be shared with, but did say that it was not Lamborghini.

VW has several other luxury brands in its pallet which could benefit from sharing technology with the Panamera, including Audi, Bentley and Bugatti. Each of those could theoretically use the four-seat, rear-wheel and all-wheel drive platform of the Panamera model. But no obvious choices seem to arise.

It could be a new model in development for a VW brand that has not yet been made public.

Porsche's Panamera range will be expanding in the coming years, before the model is expected to be discontinued in 2017. That includes a gasoline/petrol V6 in 2010 and a hybrid variant in 2011. Porsche may not offer a diesel Panamera, with the U.S. being one of its largest markets and one that is not yet receptive to diesel technology.

If the platform is NOT being shared with Lamborghini, what is the purpose of having Lamborghini Estoque pictures accompany the article?

because it's a lie. misdirection is a key element to sleight of hand, as magicians would say. WCF is making a statement. It's so obvious.

Audi could make use of a RWD chassis... correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't all Audis FWD or 4WD?

Indeed they are, but AWD is Audi's partypiece.

Audi is fairly vertically integrated. Adding an alien platform would cost more than it is worth.

As much as the idea of an RWD sounds appealing, Audi has become famous for its Quattro. RWD and Audi just don't seem to go together. Thats what we have Benzes and Beemers for.

if the panamera brings good money or profits to vw-porsche, why kill it? expect the car to evolve like the 911. but i got a feeling that they might revive the spirit of the 928 as a front V8 gt cruiser, or maybe a folding hardtop like the sl? oh no.

I am so thrilled that the Estoque Concept is not going into production. That aside, Bugatti could truly execute something astonishing utilizing the Panamera platform.

Don worry, VW will find a way to skank the Panamera out sufficiently to make a whole lot of money, coz', hey, big business is BIG business...

does this mean that the lambo estoque will be as pig ugly as the panamera? hope not. if the case, vw (lambo) are better of making their own platform.

They better make the Estoque becaues the style to the car seems much better than the Panamera.
