China was the launch pad for the Ford Fiesta sedan in 2008. Contrary to official statements it now appears that Europe will follow suit and release a Fiesta with somewhat of a boot. These spy pictures show the car fitted with different bumpers and tail lamps. These seem to be the only exterior deviations from the Chinese model. More sedan prototypes were recently seen in the Mojave desert where they were presumably undergoing hot weather testing.

Ford exhibited the Verve concept at the 2008 North American International Auto Show in Detroit and this is the product of that concept. The US is one of its confirmed markets and potential buyers there can expect a 2010 debut for the 2011 model.

Both the sedan and hatch will be available but for now there is no clarity on whether the latter is the 3-door or the 5-door. Production rights for the North American market were won by the Mexico City manufacturing factory which joins Thailand and China as the three global source plants.

I can't believe they'll try selling this in Western Europe anyway. No one cares for small saloons. More likely its headed for Eastern Europe, Turkey, the Middle East and India.

In fact, the Fiesta sedan is intended for the Eastern European and Middle Eastern market, where four-door saloons are more preferred by car owners than hatchbacks. That's why Fiat developed the Linea saloon--it's essentially the saloon version of the Fiat Grande Punto hatchback, intended for markets where saloons are popular with buyers.

Honey I shrunk the Mondeo.

Pointless in Western Europe.

Now .. that's some really ugly car !! I just wonder, how they could make such a great and beautiful car as is the Fiesta 5D in this ugly monster with 4 doors? I agree with Bristol, this car will sell very low volumes in the West Europe, there is the Logan now that is very well received by those markets! Ford would better leave the Fiesta 5d as it is!

Thats the front bumper of the low-end Fiesta (Studio & Style/ Ambiente & Trend trim levels). The tail lamps and rear bumper look identical to the Chinese Fiesta sedan.

I actually really like it! Looking forward to seeing where the fiesta goes next, absolutely love the fiesta out now. It even got a very rare 5* review at Exchange and Mart too - http://www.exchangeandmart.co.uk/asp/index.asp?lnk=111_1&model_id=1221&make=Ford&model=Fiesta

geez, can they make these small sedans look at least a bit different from each-other, everything from the polo sedan, to the yars, this, etc. in this class they all look like facelifted, or face altered versions of each other.

There's a good reason for the saloon versions of hatchbacks looking very close to each other: it reduces tooling costs because you can share a lot of common parts. Indeed, I can almost say that the Fiesta saloon from the front seat forward is exactly the same car in terms of body stampings, drivetrain, suspension and front dash as the Fiesta hatchback.

I dont think that itll sell well, people will stick with the more practical hatch

That would be true from central to western Europe, but in most of the world (Eastern Europe, Middle East, much of Africa, India, eastern Asia and North America) the preference is for the four-door saloon. That's why Honda developed the City/Fit Aria saloon based off the Honda Fit/Jazz model specifically for the east Asian and Indian markets.
