JE Design has unveiled new styling and performance accessories for the facelifted SEAT Leon Cupra.

Designed to be an "untameable racing machine", JE Design equips the Cupra with a revised ECU module (€1,499) that enables the engine to produce 285 hp (210 kW) and 385 Nm of torque (up from 240 hp and 300 Nm). This minor modification allows the Cupra to run from 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 261 km/h (162 mph).

Other performance options include a stainless steel sport exhaust system (€899), a coilover suspension that reduces ride height by 40mm, and 19-inch gloss black multispoke wheels outfitted with high-performance tires (€2,930).

In terms of styling, JE Design offers a new front spoiler (€319), headlight masks (€89), LED-daytime running lights (€299), and aggressive side skirts (€299). Out back, customers can order a bold rear skirt (€299), a rear diffuser insert (€99), and a massive rear wing (€459).

Interior options include leather upholstery (€1,599), embroidered headrests (€79), heated seats (€379), and a seat massager (€429) to melt the stress away.

From sportsman to top athlete: JE DESIGN invigorates the Seat Leon Cupra

  • JE DESIGN modifies the new Seat right at its market introduction
  • Entire aerodynamics kit renders a more aggressive appearance
  • Performance jumps to 285 hp and 385 Newton metres
  • Glossy black complete wheels Multispoke in 19 inches
  • Leather- and comfort equipment in the interior

Straight at the market introduction of the most sporty Seat Leon, JE DESIGN turns the Cupra from a sportsman into an untameable racing machine. As already with the standard Leon, JE DESIGN emphasises the agile character of the Spaniard. Thereby, the refiner from Leingarten, Germany does not only limit its modifications to the entirely new aerodynamics kit, but also increases the performance, advances the sound and improves the interior.

Where Seat acts restrained on the sporty abilities of the new model, the JE DESIGN Cupra significantly shows its talent. The front spoiler with the enormous inlets (319 Euro including VAT) and the headlight masks (89 Euro) look ahead in a fierce way. With the new side skirts (two-part set for 299 Euro), the Cupra already presents its agility when it is still parked. The rear skirt attachment left and right (299 Euro) and the centre diffuser insert (99 Euro) as well as the mighty rear wing (459 Euro) with the sunk-in JE DESIGN logo leave no doubt: this Seat is serious about it.

The vehicle turns into an absolute eye-catcher with the LED-daytime running lights (299 Euro) in the Dark-Line Design which are perfectly integrated into the front side blends above the fog lights.

But JE DESIGN has not only given the Leon Cupra a sporty shell. The Seat has actually also turned much more powerful. JE DESIGN increases the performance of the TSFI engine from 240 hp (177 kW) to 285 hp (210 kW). The maximum torque rises from 300 to 385 Newton metres. The optimisation of the motor management enables the Cupra to accelerate from zero to 100 kph (62 mph) in only 5.9 seconds. This is half a second faster than the serial version. Also the maximum speed reaches a new best mark: the refined Seat achieves 261 kph (162 mph). Before this modification, it only reached 247 kph (153 mph). The performance increase for 1,499 Euro is delivered with a one-year warranty for the motor, engine and drive. If desired, this warranty can be extended to two years. The matching sound is rendered by a four-pipe system of the end silencer (899 Euro). The double stainless steel pipes roar on both rear ends.

The according curve behaviour is achieved by lowering the car and equipping it with new wheels. With a coilover suspension it is possible to bring the car body 40 millimetres closer to the road. The wheel houses are filled with the Design Multispoke wheel. The 19 inch large, glossy black rims with a silver edge hold high-performance tyres in the dimension 225/35 R 19 (complete wheel set for 2,930 Euro).

As untameable and sporty the Cupra from JE DESIGN is, the interior is equipped with luxury and comfort for the driver. JE DESIGN offers the leather equipment Elegance for 1,599 Euro. The colour combination between leather- and seam can be freely chosen without any surcharge. If desired, the refiner embroiders and individual logo (79 Euro) on the front backrests. For highest travel comfort, there is also the two-level seat heating (379 Euro), the electrically adjustable lordosis-support for back-protecting travelling (319 Euro) and the massage system that works very silently with twelve programmes (429 Euro).

JE DESIGN presents the new Cupra in a version which resembles the racing model of the World Touring Car Championship WTCC. At the same time, the drivers sits in a comfortable cock-pit which is lavishly lined with leather- and luxury equipment.

Of course, all JE DESIGN modifications come with an expertise which guarantees an easy registration. For more information about the extensive JE DESIGN tuning programme, please do not hesitate to call +49(0)7131/203 84-0 or visit the web site www.je-design.de/en

Looks like a road-going touring car. I like the bodykit, but the colour doesn't look good on this car.

Actually there is no need for the Cupra 'to become an rs'. The Cupra has an independent rear suspension too and furthermore it can be fitted with the DSG dual clutch automatic gearbox; what about the rs' equivalent technologies? Concerning the road performance issue, this car is mainly the same with the Leon racing car that won the last year's WTCC championship for both drivers' as well for manufacturers' categories over other competitors like the BMW 3 series, thus no need to prove anything. After all the Focus' design is at least boring I could say, while the Cupra has got an excellent look still influencing newcomers in the segment like the upcoming Vauxhall/Opel Astra. It should be the rs that should want to be a Cupra!

It has 285hp, is front wheel drive, and is an "untameable racing machine"...

Is that JEs way of telling us that this thing will torque-steer your ass into the nearest ditch?

Real hot hatch! Just like JosephNetter stated above, the Cupra is quite relevant - if not the same - to the 280 bhp Leon WTCC winning car. The fact that it is front wheel drive didn't seem to be a handicap in winning the race for the 2008 WTCC championship. Now that the Cupra is equipped with ABS, traction control, ESP, XDS (something like an electronic limited slip differential), it is impeccable!

@botaki You are funny, mostly cos you are that much obsessed with the RScrap, you cannot see anything else than Fords out there in the roads! Let me tell you what is focus RScrap: the most useless and the ugliest looking hatchbacks and yeah, people are aware of that! Well since it just might be only you the one who doesn't know that the Cupra Mk2 is not a 'new player' at all in the segment, let me remind you of the Leon Cupra Mk1 since 2000! I shall not 'leave alone' the RScrap just because you want it (after all it is you the one who comments on cars other than the RScrap). So what is the whole fuss you 're making about the RScrap? WHat are the wins of the RScrap when compared the Cupra? The Cupra has been racing in the World Tourism championship against BMWs and ARs and you know what, has won both 2008 drivers' as well as manufacturers' titles. Which cars have been the competitors of the RScrap racing cars? C4s and Fabias... And how about the high-tech novelties of the RScrap? You are talking of the independent rear suspension of the RScrap, well the Cupra has that too; but more over that, the Leon Cupra has a rigid platform combined with the TSI engines and the DSG gearboxes. Hmmm, what about the RScrap? Nothing! At least nothing more than its horrible appearance. Now may you have a nice day! ;D

PS: Since when the worldcarfans.com has been censoring selectively its users? You deleted my last post, but in the same time you didn't find offensive the use of words like 'crap' in the pevious posts. Nice.

Bah, I seriously doubt whether you are going to see me. Your writing gives a good proof of who 's on crack! Hahahaa.. Keep dreaming and wishing! As for the Cupra it is your ignorance or something else than makes you believe that the Cupra mk2 has not been in production since 2005? And what kind of bad taste could someone have to like the hideous Focus and dislike the Cupra calling it ugly, knowing that the Cupra's attractive design has been the pattern for the new Astra; there is though the case that Vauxhall has changed its target group over people who like ugly cars. At least the Focus hasn't been copied by no other, why 's that? Don't ask for yourself, you can go back to your very beloved focus and dream of it as the best looking hatch, it might work...
