New 3-series cabriolet will debut at the Frankfurt motor show next month

Here are some more spy pics of the upcoming BMW 3-series convertible doing some final testing before making its public debut at the Frankfurt motor show in a few weeks.

It seems BMW is aiming for some dramatic impact for the premiere of the model given how they are still using camouflage to mask much of the front end.

Those modifications for the facelifted 3-series convertible/cabriolet include, of course, the new front bumper as well as a fresh set of headlamps, LED lights at the rear and a new rear bumper too.

Piquing curiousity will be whether BMW will be offering any new engine choices for the 3-series cabrio, something the brand has been known to do with upgrades and facelifts in order to truly put out something new.

Could BMW be considering adding its new 2.0 liter EfficientDynamics diesel with 163 hp and a consumption rating of only 4.1 liters/100 km to the 3-series cabriolet range?

We'll see what they roll out in Frankfurt.

Too bad they didn't spice up the back end. It's as if the designers through in the towel when they got past the C-pillar.

Totally agree with you. I've been a Merc fan since childhood...but the E46 was a handsome car and I actually sold my W202 C-Class and bought one. But...it just broke down too much and after 2years I sold it and bought a W203 C Class...but an AMG because the normal C wasn't exciting enough after the 330i!

BMW was probably thinking that mercedes gave the next clk a hardtop, so they did that too with the 3 series. But mercedes and audi both have softops. So don't look too much to the competitors.

I'm just hoping the facelift loses that "slightly-melted" look that none-m sports pack 3 coupes have, it looks, not horrible, but slightly awkward.

The 3 series convertible still has leak issues with the top, they changed the design on the Z4. Stay away from the 3 series unless you want to get wet. Search for the waterfall videos on youtube and on all the BMW forums like e90post.com and Bimmerissues.com
