Confirming earlier reports, BMW has released a teaser video of the Vision EfficientDynamics concept.  Besides a glimpse of some radical looking bodywork, no specific details have been released yet.  However, BMW is calling it a "new revolutionary concept car with BMW EfficientDynamics technology."  That's it.

Previously (see link above), photos of a unknown sleek looking BMW concept car were spied while being loaded onto a transport truck.  It was thought that this was BMW's concept surprise called the Z Vision Concept headed for the Frankfurt Motor Show.  Unfortunately, BMW capped the hype by declaring it a five year old design study that was being moved from their design studio in Germany to storage somewhere.

In conjunction with this teaser video, BMW has also launched today the successor of their BMW-web.tv website.  Located at BMW.tv the new IPTV website marks the end of a two year beta phase of BMW-web.tv which registered more than 70 million video views during that time.  Over the coming weeks and months, BMW will roll out thirteen other local-language websites.

Im guesing this is the backlight? I better not say anything before i see the whole thing but i have a bad feeling on this one...a bit too futuristic for my taste. And BMW really needs something to hit the R8..and thats their chance to, lets hope for the best..

You should not confuse concept cars (one offs with over accentuated dramatic features that explore a design direction as these are often not feasible for manufacture, operation or legislation) with real product development vehicles. If BMW is designing a competitor for the R8, then it will be shown as customised real vehicle six months before launch as per the BMW M3 and M5 concepts that were essentially the production car with chrome alloys and funky paint.

Yeah, a strange looking martian backlight, it's hard to make an image of the car in my head based only on this.

Did anyone notice a (deliberate?) absence of engine noise in the video? I'm guessing they're hinting at an all-electric vehicle. Their Hybrids are already in full production in the 7 series and X6, so this seems the logical next step for BMW.

However, being a petrolhead and Bimmerphile, I hope it's none of these things and instead an R8 smasher.

What's this German obessesion with the word "joy"? Strength Through Joy was how the Nazis sold Volswagen in the 30s.

"Kraft durch Freude (KdF, literally "Strength through Joy") was a large state-controlled leisure organization in the Third Reich." BMW's motto is "Freude am Fahren" joy at driving. Beethoven's 9th symphony is called "Ode to Joy".

so yeah , i guess they must be obsessed... like what's the deal with the Brits and the word "fun" , it's like they are obsessed.

Since they are talking about Dynamics, I think it is an air wing like the Porsche has
