Our spy photographers have managed to catch Hyundai's facelifted 2011 (or 2012) Genesis sedan undergoing testing in the Mojave desert.

While the Genesis is only a year old, Hyundai apparently wanted to bring the car's styling more in line with the company's new Equus flagship. Up front, the changes appear to be limited to a new bumper and modified fog lights. Out back, there are new LED design taillights, integrated exhaust tips similar to the Equus, and a slightly altered rear bumper.

Engine options will likely carry over, meaning we can expect a 290 hp 3.8-liter V6 and a 368 hp 4.6-liter V8. Eventually the Genesis may be offered with a new 5.0-liter V8 with over 400 hp, but nothing is official as of yet.

They should know better... If they really want the 'luxury' credentials, they should be aware that luxury cars - entry luxury included - should not be marketed as their average mainstream compact, and should not be facelifted every 12 to 24 months like those. It is all a matter of building an image of reliability, accountability, respect for the customer and resale value.

And how exactly does an early facelift of this car hurt Hyundai's luxury credentials? Not to mention that Hyundai already does a decent image of reliability and other credentials to the consumer. I feel the company is on the right track to achieving its goals.

Please check this web page. A Korean newspaper called MoneyToday copied your photograph, then delete 'worldcarfans.com' credit on the image and report as if their own. The person who copied your image is In Woong Choi.

Thanks timsnart! Unfortunately it happens all too often all over the world with every spy photo article. We will get in touch with them by sending a friendly invoice. It's a shame.

Like I wrote in the comments about the new Sonata earlier this week...facelift in 2 years. 2010 or early 2011(for the domestic market) sounds just about right for a face-lifted Genesis sedan.
