not at all... it is FWD as it is based on the Gol hatchback, which in turn for this generation has been spun off the Polo Mk IV or 9N generation.

Oh no, I bet you anything Porsche is next to make a pick-up.

i doubt vw going to add this car in its product line-up in its home market because this is a disaster and poor by vw standards. saveiro? it needs to work on a better pick-up line

This car here will cost around 24.000,00 dolares for thrid world is a lot of money for every one, just for had ideia about car market here one Subaru Impreza WRX (not STI) for example cost 66.000,00. We have a lot of taxes and for this our cars are very expensive...

Stop whining around all of you! This VW is supposed to fight the Dacia Logan Pick-up for the same buck! What else would you want on this car? A 200hp turbo engine + 4x4??
Btw, the car fullfill their buyers expectations, not yours...

to be honest it looks kinda good for a pick-up, its way better than the most Japanese pick-ups i see around here..maybe more practical than most American pick-up trucks

I hope they build a RHD version countries like Australia & Sth Africa love their car based utes/pickups.

I?d say the styling is pretty nice, even better than the Gol/Voyage versions. However we will have to wait and see whether they can take the top spot from the Fiat Strada in that segment, even more so if there aren?t any rear seats in that extended cab. That?s a real pity.

yeah i'd like to see vw foist this on the europeans. why is it the south american market gets such a bad deal. vw's are just terminally dull to look at anyway with zero design flair...

Ugly piece of crap, what are they trying to do, make a cheap and stupid looking El Camino?
August 25, 2009 8:25 am
Are you under the impession that the El Camino is the only pick-up/ute ever made? Wtf?

I think it looks rather good considering it was built to a limited budget for the markets of developing nations. After all, not everyone in the world can afford a lifted 4WD pickup with thirsty V8 or turboed V6. Somebody's been hitting the Hatorade pretty hard.

Some of you, like Renegade, are so ignorant. The Saveiro has been on the South American market for decades. This is what buyers want and VW, Fiat, Chevrolet, etc., fulfill the expectations with these cars. Buyers want a robust small ute and that is what they get. So just stop posting your comment on everything you don?t have a clue about.

neither could I... I?m sure this car will deliver exactly what the customers expect and need.

Yes, like some said, Saveiro is very popular here in Brazil, and probably will return to be on the top of the sales.
The hatchback version(Gol) and the saloon(Voyage) are on the top too.
Of course is not exactly a masterpiece, but I think that it is good for what it stands for.

Im from chile and this small pickup trucks are very popular between young people, and the cost one of this new its not U$ 24.000, its arround $12.000
August 25, 2009 9:26 pm
He was talking about the truck's price in Brazil, not Chile. As someone mentioned, in Brazil the taxes are extreme, so the cars cost a lot around here. For example: Honda Civic 1.8L costs around US$ 40.000 here.

Middle to rear looks like the current/outgoing Corsa van. That means it looks nice enough not to embarrass one when using it for non-work activities.
But I think this design demands large wheels to look great.

I'm brazilian, here the version most expensive this car cost around R$44.000,00, or 31.000,00 dollars..
