Sportec Announce 400bhp Upgrade for Audi TT RS
Sportec Audi TT RS power chart

Sportec is presenting a Stage One engine performance upgrade for the upcoming Audi TT RS. The kit is available at £1,200 through the UK's official Sportec importer APS of Brackley.

Engineers took an analytical look at the new engine's data and saw an opportunity to for further performance enhancement. The result is the remapping of the ECU to increase both power and torque.

In standard form the little chilli chucker uses its turbocharged 2.5-litre five-cylinder to good effect for an output of 250kW (340hp) at 5,400rpm and maximum torque of 450Nm at 1,600rpm. Exceptional figures by anyone's measure, but not Sportec's it would seem.

The tweaks have increased power to 298kW (405hp) at 5,800rpm and torque to 544Nm at 2,650rpm. That makes it about as powerful as the previous-generation BMW M5 (E39) and as potent as the Porsche Panamera S. Performance numbers are 4.2 seconds for the 0 - 100km/h sprint, down from the standard 4.6 seconds.

More dynamic and styling upgrades are being developed at Sportec's base in Höri, Switzerland. If this is Stage One then we wait with bated breath for the next stage. The conversions are covered by a guarantee for the balance of the manufacturer's warranty.

It really is a shame that Audi does not offer the TT-RS in North America. To be honest, it's disappointing that Audi has only truly offered us the B7 RS4 (not to mention the previous generation RS6 in very limited numbers). I really wish Audi would broaden the availability of their highest performing versions to their North American clientele but, alas, I guess that's what tuners are for and I'm thankful we have many of them here.

This Audi is almost as powerfull as the previous M5, so what? That doesn't make it as good as that M5, because let's not forget this is basically a vw golf. Al M5's, so far have been sensacional cars. This engine doesn't really do it for me, it is like a diesel, 450Nm at 1,600rpm for the 340 hp version. HOW BORING, just make a 3.0 TDI V diesel with 400 hp, if you want much torque at low revs. What's more the 3.2 v6 version does 9.4L/100 km, this does 9.5L/km. Ok it has 90 hp less, but with 340 hp and some overdrive gearbox I'm sure it would be more fuel efficient.

First off learn to spell. Second, Yes the peak torque is made at a little after 2600 RPM, however, the curve is relatively flat until 5000 RPM and the Peak horsepower is at 5800 RPM... not quite a diesel is it? Third, a 400 hp diesel with a similar size to the size of this 5 cylinder would be absurd

typical BMW fan. compare the car described in the article to some BMW with comparable numbers then deride the featured car by saying it is the same as something that it obviously inferior, in this case, a "vw golf." you clearly know nothing about cars, grow the fck up.

yes and if you are comparing, than let's play your game! did you know that this Audi TT-RS is faster than any M5??? yes and I think that this Audi kicks ass of every BMW on every track!!! how diesel-ish or how torquey-ish sounds this for you? you have to learn something about cars and motor engineering!!!

No where in the article did it say this was BETTER than an M5. All it said is that it has as much power as the M5. Please read the article more carefully next time.

the RS kicks arse on the track in its category and this Sportec one even more, simple as that. look what the slower TT-S did on a short track with quite a few corners (LuK Driving Center in Baden-Baden): 1.Porsche 911 GT3 RS 1:07.06 192,47km/h (V-Max) 2.KTM X-Bow 1:08.03 177,06 3.Audi R8 1:08.48 189,48 4.BMW M6 1:08.94 200,41 5.Audi TTS 1:10.92 179,60 6.Mercedes SLK 55 AMG 1:11.55 182,82 7.Lancer Evo X 1:11.73 170,21 7.Mercedes C 63 AMG 1:11.73 184,46 9.BMW M3 Limousine 1:11.78 181,71 10.Ford Focus RS 1:12.46 173,49 11.Impreza WRX STi 1:12.69 172,16 12.Lotus Exige S 1:13.15 169,96 13.BMW Z4 M Roadster 1:13.68 174,62 14.Mazda RX-8 1:14.40 161,14
