Speculative, speculative, speculative....

Disclaimer: The model pictured in the main "photo" above is a Photoshop-enhanced image of an A3 TDI Clubsport Quattro Concept made to look like a prospective Audi RS3. The rest are of that same A3 TDI.

The article quoted here is from the Swedish edition of Auto, Motor & Sport, and they claim to have a source inside the Ingolstadt-based Audi who says the RS3 is coming soon.

Audi has not yet officially unveiled an RS3 but we can let loose our imaginations, can't we?

An RS3 will most likely come with Audi's 2.5 liter, 5-cylinder turbocharged engine first seen in the TT RS. That engine produces 340 hp and 450 Nm of torque. It will also be a strict quattro (all-wheel drive). The Swedish mag is also speculating that an RS3 variant of that engine may be dialed up a little and feature anywhere from between 350 to 400 hp, making the model faster than an R8 with the 4.2 liter FSI engine.

If there is going to be an RS3, the Frankfurt motor show next month would be the ideal place to premiere it and that's what the Swedes at Auto, Motor & Sport are saying.

Looks like we will just have to wait until then.

glorious engine but i am not sure whether the chassis taking all the power. the A3 is seven old now, not sure whether the car could get the latest quattro drivetrain.

The A3 is Haldex, not true quattro (Torsen). So is the TT. The TT RS has the 5-cylinder engine.

Let's see how many idiots are going to think the picture above is the real thing.

If it's made it's going to be far too expensive. The S3 is already expensive, and the RS 3 would be more so...

I hear you. Only so much I'd spend on a hatch.

why not make a new A3 instead of this? This market is flood with hot hatches and Audi is never gonna earn some market place

If this is made and looks anything like this, it will be the hottest hatch around.

This better not mess up. If it doesn't, it will take my heart from the Focus RS. Good luck Audi.

this is a great looking hatch. Just scratch all the grap[his and were good. I like it just as pictured all in red. Anyone have a round about idea of what something like this will go for. Im not fimilar with Audi's starting prices. I know someone above mentioned that the S3 is already to expensive. Does anyone out there off the top of there head know where the S3 starts out in pricing?

Here in Australia an S3 costs the same as a 2.0T TT. Which probably means an RS 3 would be the same as a TT-S...

(prices in sterling) The S3 is expensive. A 130i M Sport costs 26815. Even a 305PS Focus RS is 26395. An S3 costs 27480 (28020 Sportback) A TTS cocts 33425. So TTS costs 21.6% more than an S3. On that basis, because a TT RS costs 42985, a fair and calculated prediction would come out at around 35350 or more.

The A3 is a great car even in its base 2.0T. I cant even imagine how great this car will be.

The base A3 is a 1.4T.

Actually, I think the base A3 is 1.6 as it has less hp than turbo 1.4.

Not gonna have more power than TT-RS. That is almost a fact.

could any1 give more info regarding the FULL quattro. As far as i know tt rs also has the latest version of haldex. Actually that is what is limiting tuners of getting the most (on earth) from the 2.5T.

And another thing, Audi will never do this to any of their cars, such as http://www.worldcarfans.com/109082421251/mini11/audi-to-unveil-rs3-in-frankfurt... they're far too CONVENTIONAL. An RS3 looking like a Focus RS? Never. Audi are terribly conservative, I think completely dull. Like the LED running lights tho front and rear, but otherwise... yawn.

It would be awsome if this engine came in a vw golf, it at least better than 4 cylinders, but the R32 is the best for me. And I think the could also get 340 hp from the 3.2 fsi v6 using no turbo's. For all these 4wd hatchbacks, give them a rearwheeldrive modus like a skyline.

Why on earth would you want to ruin the RS3 with an out dated v6 lump to heavy to thirsty ,I have had my s3 moded to 330hp and it is fun , the r32 golf is dull a friend has one its sloooow . Audi allways make the S3 models light and quick thats why they opp. for the TFSI the new 3.0 TFSI enigne is good but again to heavy for a small car .
