Audi Inspired BMW R8 Appears on the Street

BMW R8

Introducing the BMW 850i

Fresh from the "what were they thinking" department, an Audi R8 has been photographed (or photoshopped) wearing BMW badges.

The Russian-owned R8 has been completely stripped of all Audi logos. Redubbed the BMW 850i, the car has BMW badges on the hood, engine cover, and rear fascia. While we aren't sure what to make of this, it's clearly odd to say the least. On the bright side, it's a real R8 instead of a creepy replica based on a Mercury Cougar.

We always knew Audi had an inferiority complex, but apparently some of their customers do too.

People want BMW to build a car as good or better than the Audi R8

It could have been better. It could have been a Type-R or a Turbo (ala Porsche) badge.

All this hoopla about a badge yet no one even makes a comment about the fabulous matte paint finish on the car.

CH
August 24, 2009 11:58 AM
I think it's not a matte paint, more a dirt cover. But I might be mistaken.

i bet it's some form of modern art, something to do the modern human's need to put a labels on things... or some crap like that. you never know what could be modern art nowadays :)

it's a lot better than all the ricers with Ferrari stickers and logos.

He should spend less time putting badges on the car and more time cleaning his engine bay, that thing is filthy. Get it together man

god damn commies.. i see a lot of other expensive cars in this picture. didnt the crysis affected them too?

alessandro
August 21, 2009 6:53 PM
No, they are these who causes crises! You see expensive cars just because they have money but don't have a clue about productive way of life nor productive society. They robbing their own people and others too if possible. One of their political clowns made a joke about year ago: "Only two sectors in this world today, 1st is a sector Gaza an second one is sector Bez Gaza (means with no gas)".

speaking about commies , check out a random street in Bucharest , Romania. the crisis doesn't affect the rich commies because their business is mostly illegal anyway.

Here is a better video of cars in romania

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLV3pm_B10Y&NR=1

But you have to remember 1 thing, Pretty much at this one hotel are ALL the nice cars in the country durring the summer, maybe at Hotel Mamaia too a few more. Not that rich if you consider Romania has 22million people, not even 0.1% of people can afford cars like that, 90% are dirt poor and can barely get by, and the other 9.9% are medium class by western standards. NOT all Romania is filled with cars like that, same for russia, out of 140million people there are bound to be a few rich, and the rich stick with the rich so when u see a high concentration of nice cars u assume they are filthy rich as a people. In the US the wealth is more spread out.

ROFL!!! he should at least put the BMW logos on each side of the engine bay since I can still see the four rings & if BMW makes an 850i R8 that would be some thing nice, good joke man!!

August 21, 2009 6:12 PM
That's Russia. You can expect anything :D I would like to make some audi/vw/skoda/seat with wrong patches, and no one could tell what's the real deal.

August 21, 2009 6:13 PM
I believe this is photoshopped, if you look at the bmw badge on the hood the shadow indicates the sun is behind the car but in fact on the sun is on the side as you can see the glare on the door frame.

But still this is an insult to Audi.

scratchy996
August 21, 2009 7:03 PM
if someone can make a photoshop like that , they would erase the Audi markings on the engine bay completely. and perhaps even add a kidney grille to the car :)

socalmonarch
August 21, 2009 8:21 PM
which is why the front bumper is completely shaded, not with any light coming from the side... and why the rear bumper shot is completely lit with direct sun glare coming off the tail lights?

you as a detective = fail

jphxr
August 22, 2009 3:39 AM
I'm not sure if everyone understands lighting here. There is nothing unusual about the way this car is lit. The sun is slightly behind and almost directly centered, as all the shadows suggest. Unless this was the most extensive photoshop job in the universe, and someone took the time to also photoshop every other car :). Not a photoshop... And its really sad to think about why anyone would do this to their car!

August 21, 2009 6:38 PM
Hahahaha!!!! It looks like an R8 you know!

August 21, 2009 6:47 PM
Everyone has a different feeling and opinion about this. I look at it as an insult to BMW fo failing to make a worthy competitor of the R8. dmanero.

I'm afraid not. There is no place for feelings it is an issue of clinical psychiatry.
