Jay Leno drives Porsche Panamera Turbo - Pebble Beach promo episode 2

Jay learns to use launch control from David Donohue

American television talk show host and well known fanatical car enthusiast, Jay Leno, made a special appearance yesterday at the specially built Porsche Zentrum facility located at the Quail Lodge in Carmel Valley California. While there he met with old friend David Donohue and the two went on a short drive in a Porsche Panamera Turbo. While on the test drive, Donohue taught Jay the proper way to use launch control in the new four door Porsche. In 2005, Donohue and Leno both set several speed records in a production Porsche Carrera GT at Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama.

Following the first installment, this exclusive video is the second in a series showcasing the Porsche Panamera during its North American debut at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance on Sunday August 16.

hahaha he is so lukewarm about this car! his body language says it all. i love how it looks like he only went around the block in it, didn't really give a sh%t about the launch control, thought the styling in the rear was disproportional and unattractive, and then just said "cool" as he tossed the keys over and walked out. he is an avid porsche guy as am i, and this car is blasphemous for true porschephiles. just terrible.

rubbish, if something is blasphemic in their line-up then it is the cayenne and the cayenne sells like hell and the next generation even more, so its creation is justified. the panamera isn`t a 911 but it still possesses real sportscar DNA. u seem to be stuck in the past pal, time to open ur mind.

I think Porsche is being unique in this sector. This is a wierd design, ugly from alot of angles, but fantastic from others. I think it is interesting personally. The interior is neat and the performance from the Turbo is remarkable. This car, just like the Cayenne before it, has a purpose and will probably be top of the class dynamics-wise.

a four door hatchback does not deserve the porsche crest. this design is deeply lacking in passion and thus it does not belong aside the 911, Targa, Cayman, etc. i am sure the performance is great for a four door, the tech is probably top notch, and the quality/reliability is no doubt at or near the top of the segment. but this bastardization of classic design is what i take issue with. if they were going to make a four door, adopt a similar approach to what maserati did with the QP. make something different. they've become too scared to deviate from the same basic formula which is a winner with a two-door and an utter disgrace as a four door. let's not even talk about the touraeg based cayenne. that's why this is blasphemic. it simply does not arouse the PASSION a porsche is built to arouse. "interesting from some angles" is DEFINITELY not good enough for a marque like porsche.

McNamara68, Porsche is all about passion, but not in an Italian way. Italians need to use pantomime and drama to show passion. like Hammond said, they need a lot of ketchup to make their chips good. Porsche just makes good chips, no ketchup, no bullsh!t. the passion is in the engineering. form follows function, and that's what the fans love. others just buy them for the badge. i'm sure this will be a success and it's a good thing it looks different from Maserati QP, Rapide and CLS. being the fastest of the bunch is reason alone for lots of people to buy it so they can compare d!cks at the country club.

Doesn't sound like he mastered launch control at all. He didn't do what the chap said; he just took his foot off the break THEN nailed. Any car offers that!

Actually.... Looks quite nice in black in this video... Like the grown up Porsche for the long runs... Didn't like it in the light colours like silver in Top Gear...

He didn't look impressed at all. Body language speaks louder than words.

i don`t think jay leno is THE typical Panamera customer. the crazier and more exotic a car is the more he likes it. In the end the car is simply too technocratic and understated for him.

I agree with what everyone else said about Jay's, less than enthusiastic posture driving that blimp. I'm really trying to like this car. Jay has driven everything, so I imagine it takes a lot to get him excited. What's up with the hair!? LOL

this is not the type of car Jay would be excited about. put a steam engine in the back of the Panamera and you will see Jay getting excited :)

Still hate this car, looks nothing special on the inside or out, my money would be on an Aston Martin Rapide or Jaguar XJ thanx.

Okay option (1) Jay leno has little to no personality (which we all know isnt true)(2) This car is as boring as its almost station wagon profile and thats why Jay's voice was monotone through the entire thing. Hmmm... 2 makes more sense.
