Infiniti has released official photos of the new 2011 M37 and M56 sedans upon its unveiling at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.  Revealed through a unique video mapping process, in which a ‘virtual M' was created on a 3D form, it is the world's first ‘virtual only' (no physical vehicle) automotive application of this cutting-edge technology.

Featuring dynamic styling, inspired by the Infiniti Essence concept, the new M sedans have an aggressive appearance with elegant detailing. The front end is dominated by a massive grille which is beautifully integrated into the flowing lines of the hood and front bumper. Further back, the character lines rise above the rear wheels to help give the M a "hunkered down" stance.

Inside, the 2011 M sedan is a huge improvement over its predecessor. Materials and build quality seem excellent, while the flowing design helps to add interest. As before, the center stack is dominated by a large display, "top-mounted" controls, and plenty of wood trim. Oddly enough, the car appears to feature two different controls knobs: one on the center console and another below the navigation system.

While official specifications weren't released, the M37 should adopt a 3.7-liter V6 engine with 328 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque. On the other hand, the M56 will likely boast a 5.6-liter V8 with at least 390 hp. In Europe, the M56 will be replaced by a "V6 performance diesel".

Look for the M sedans to make their public debuts later this year, with sales scheduled to begin in spring 2010.

2011 INFINITI M MAKES VIRTUAL DEBUT AT CONCOURS D'ELEGANCE

PEBBLE BEACH, California (Aug. 14, 2009) - Infiniti today provided an advanced look at the all-new 2011 Infiniti M performance luxury saloon at the 59th Annual Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. This is the third generation of Infiniti's popular M and the first to be sold across all of Infiniti's 32 markets around the world, including Western Europe.

Like the current Infiniti M, the next-generation design will be offered with V8 and V6 engines. The 2011 M models will be designated the Infiniti M56 and Infiniti M37 respectively, reflecting their more powerful, larger displacement engines. For Western Europe, the M56 will be replaced by a V6 performance diesel.

The 2011 Infiniti M also features a completely redesigned body, with authentic sports saloon proportions and evocative new styling with a low front end and deeply sculpted wings inspired by the Infiniti Essence concept car. The new M interior promises to be pure Infiniti, highlighted by the use of innovative materials, an advanced climate control system, superior audio and an enhanced quality feel. Despite improved performance from the new engine line-up, fuel consumption will be reduced. In addition, the 2011 M will continue Infiniti's safety innovation leadership with an industry-first Side-Collision Prevention (SCP) system. The SCP system is designed to alert the driver if another vehicle is detected during an intended lane change and help prevent a potential collision by moving the vehicle toward the center of the original lane of travel.

The 2011 Infiniti M which is scheduled to go on sale across the world starting from Spring 2010, was revealed through a unique video mapping process, in which a ‘virtual M' was created on a 3D form. It is the world's first ‘virtual only' (no physical vehicle) automotive application of this cutting-edge technology. The 2011 Infiniti M will make its official public debut later this year.

"5.6-liter V8 with at least 390 hp." it better be 'at least' 390hp for 5.6L engine.

Mercedes 5.5 ltr V8 is what, 385 HP or so? Better yet, Jag is getting 385 HP from their new 5.0 ltr.

@rcw, aston martin v8 vantage makes 400hp out of 4.3L. maserati makes 440hp out of 4.7L. yes they rev high and different class. but as someone pointed out already. their own 5.0-liter V8 makes 390hp.

This is a massive car that needs a lot of torque, not a lightweight sports car like the V8 Vantage.

The current M is a fantastic car and the interior is beautiful, and i'm sure this M56 will be better.

5.6 390 hp? but the current 5.0 in the FX boasts 390?

Too bad the original didn't sell as well and was not understood and marketed correctly. It was my favorite Q.

I'll have to see this one in person. I'm almost to a point where I'm getting weary of this horizontal wave beltline that has become so popular lately... the Audi A4/A5, Ifiniti EX, Hyundai Elanta and other models... It might look really good in person though. We'll see.

When I looked at it first I was thinking I am seeing Hyundai but then I read the headline. Wow! It still looks like Hyundai but on pain killers. All this drama and nothing special about it. I had higher hopes for it but it doesn't stand out at all:(

Maybe because Hyundai copy every other maker's designs, including infiniti's :)

Good job Infiniti! This looks good. I particularly like the sporty shape and the C pillar/rear decklid design. Front end lights are sort of a generic, because alot of companies these days seem to use a bulging swept back design as well, but a minor caveat. Overall, a vast improvement over the previous gen, which had the largest rear lights I have ever seen.

The side profile looks like a 3 series mixed with an A5. Pretty bland.

disappointing. looks deformed to me, maybe the studio photos and not so sure about in the metal. so many lines will age the car very quickly with expected various facelifts on the way. the lexus gs is still one of the best looking japanese saloon on the lot at the moment - mazda6 included.

nahh i think they took that new grille from the concept car they made awhile back... you know... the sex on wheels infiniti??? looks funky, but damn... there is way more good than bad on this car :D:D

Looks good, even though it's borrowing some design cues from other cars. Interior doesn't give that much luxurious look since it looks like a typical Nissan, especially the infotainment area. Curious to see this in metal.

very nice car, only thing Im worried about is fuel consumption, VQ engine series drink gas more than Germans drink beer at Oktoberfest. 3.7 V6 - 350HP, sounds aright, but 5.6 V8 - 390HP sounds no good, i expect more HP, at least 410 HP and top of the line would be 460HP, please Nissan

the rear actually closely resembles the new Mercedes E Coupe. This car is sort of attractive now but its design is evidently not timeless. Its the kind of vehicle that 3 years from now will be 35k on every used lot and will not have aged well.

Absolute boat. This is a Japanese mockery of latent 50's American design combined with the 2011 Buick LaCrosse. Trim the sheetmetal fat, push the cab forward, and eliminate the jelly-bean styling. Infiniti: engineer the basics before obsessing on the details.

It does look nice but, I just wonder if your bum is going to wander to one side with the bias stitching.

Uninspired and boring. Infiniti did with this what they they did with the the G35-- turn a sharp looking car into a big soft boat. But I guess there's a market for that.

I am so curious to see how this car feels/looks in person. As with anything, it must be experienced in person.

it looks superb from the outside, the taillights seems to be taken from the same theme as the FX50S, and the interior..finally !! they noticed that their centre knob was too high and awkward to reach without moving from your seat

It looks so hot for a large sedan that I will even pretend not to notice the SUV-macho face, the over-designed rear end and the Equus-fied side profile.
