Corvette Vision Concept AKA SIDESWIPE in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Will retain a front-engine layout

GM has announced that C7 Corvette production will begin in April 2012, for the 2013 model year.

While details are limited, the company stated that the C7 would retain a front-engine layout. This contradicts earlier rumors that suggested the next generation Corvette could adopt a mid-engine setup.

Styling could be influenced by the Stingray Concept that was introduced at the Chicago Auto Show and featured in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Regardless of what it looks like, the new Corvette is expected to be smaller, more lightweight, and more advanced than the car it replaces.

With the arrival of the $30,245 426 hp Camaro SS, the $48,565 430 hp base Corvette started to look obsolete. This will likely be rectified when the C7 begins production, as the base engine should produce at least 450 hp to help justify its premium status.

Since the C7 will be launched in a few years, look for prototypes to start appearing in the coming months.

I'm sure that they won't send the concept in to production the way it looks now, have you seen the pic from corvetteblogger? That car is awesome.

As Ash said, it looks a wee bit like a one-77 that has been americanized. Oh well, more time to enjoy the current C6!

2102 will arrive just in time to coincide with the 60th anniversary celebration of the C7's engine. Cool.

If that car is meant to have a hint of One-77 in it, then I say 'BRING IT'!!! I love the One-77, and I love the way this looks too. Please Chevrolet make the C7 look like this, I beg you.

I have wanted and coveted a corvette for many reasons and yet never bought one. I know now the reason, they are to low to the ground, hard to get into and out of they are beyond Claustrophobic with the roof in place, and the outward visibilty just forget about it. Give me my Benz any day of the year.Sorry Chevrolet

cant say that i really like this - those headlights seem to insignifcant for that type of fascia. they should be flared out to meet those sculpted grilles.

The C7 looks nice in the front, but why did they changed the 4 round tail lights of the Corvette since it's 1st in production, that's how Corvette should be, it's going to be hard to recognize a c7 corvette from the back since it's going to look more future like and the same as many other cars like a Honda maybe. well, I'm going to stick with the C6 Z06.

Curse you GM! The front looks nice but the tail lights killed Corvette's name, there are suppose to be 4 ROUND TAIL LIGHTS!!!!

At least it's not going to have a v6, like WCF said before.

As long as it hasn't got a pushrod engine or a 5 watt electric engine in it to make it hybrid, it's all good.
