What we see on this promotional video clip is Rolls-Royce's next biggest seller. The Ghost will be RR's smallest model in the range. Product Manager Dan Balmer takes us through a short ride in the exclusive super luxury car. The pre-production unit looks immaculate especially with that aluminium-covered bonnet. Balmer is all smiles as he explains how the Ghost produces supercar figures but is much more comfortable than those types of cars.

Rolls-Royce will officially unveil it at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show in just over a month's time. Some engine details already available: 6.6-litre turbocharged V12 making 420kW (571hp) and peak torque of 780Nm. It is coupled to an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission and 0 - 100km/h is achieved in 4.9 seconds and 0 - 60mph in 4.7 seconds.

As a matter of interest, were you one of the people who called the Aston DB7 a "glorified XJS" and the Jaguar X-Type a "glorified Mondeo"?

Do you REALLY consider the floorpan of the car the most important aspect of the whole driving and ownership experience?

i agree! this can't even be compared to the BMW 760, they're so different and all the important parts are unique to the RR

I am one of the people you speak of. I did call the DB7 a glorified XJS (because it was) and the X-Type a glorified mondeo (again...that's what it was). At the same time, this is a glorified 760. The engineered components of a car you DON'T see play a larger role in how good or bad the "shared" product is than what it looks like, or how much "brand DNA" is applied. A chocolate cake is a chocolate cake, even if it has vanilla icing...

Sorry but i just can't help it but at least it is not based on the previous 7. Thank you for your feedbacks. well i have to agree with your comments, it's like having a bespoke vertu handphone based on a n-series nokia. at the end of the day it's a vertu or a rolls, you're buying because of its flashy image and a big shiny grille. i am sure that this car will be a great car and looks very promising indeed. being a rolls, i was hoping they could put some magic on the phantom's lightweight aluminum chassis, make it shorter, lowered and you'll get a sports luxury saloon - just like the brilliant horch S8, i mean the audi.

I like it. The rear isn't so bland with those 2 big exhausts, two tone colour suits it, and it doesn't have a plastic grill anymore.

I'd take a Quattroporte and keep the change.

The engine is really big and it's supposed to be a smaller car. But I bet it's still enormous standing next to other cars

I really am considering ordering one of these. Its a steal at only $234,000.00 in comparison to the Phantom. I have had this video on my site for a little less than a week.

That was the most useless video I have seen for a car. It doesn't tell you anything, really.

first thing... that balmer guy he wouldnt say anything bad about the ghost BEING THE PRODUCTION MANAGER and all that. that would be very retarded. as retarded as putting one of ur employees to do a test drive in a car that you, or he (the employee) produced..and than tell him "dude, just be 100% objective". so mr balmer.. in my eyes, your as good as fired. second thing.... ( i said this at least 3 times) that engine SUUUUCKKKS. f.cking truck, lorry, mining machine engine and it produces what?? "uuu the torque is so smooth, i can feel it crawling up my arse". and last.... i wouldnt buy this even if id be the richest guy in the world, and 99 of age. (see, now this was subjective... like mr balmer was)

wonder if the arnage thing will be quicker then this car depending whats under the hood, i would rather that then the rolls royce. the 420kw is roughly about the same power as the ferrari 458 italia and its slower then that

The key questions remains.... The Gtand Bentley is coming. Who will clinch the luxury class?

I honestly prefer the looks of the old Phantom. It has more personality. This is just a face lifted Phantom.
