BMW claims this is an old concept model being moved into storage

iMotormag is reporting that this is, in fact, not the Z Vision Concept rumored to be headed to the Frankfurt motor show, as it was previously believed to be. A call put in to BMW had the Bavarian automaker deny that.

BMW claims this is a five year old design study car that is being moved from their design studio in Germany to be put into storage somewhere.

Our colleagues at iMotormag speculate that this concept may be a precursor to a possible, future BMW 3-Series GT. Or maybe not.

BMW will be premiering a new concept car dubbed EfficientDynamics Vision at the Frankfurt show next month alongside its new 5-series GT and the X1 compact SUV. It remains to be seen what that is.

Nothing to see here, folks, just move along, please.

@Bristy: [raises his hand]....right here. It still looks good, despite going to Uhaul. I'm always skeptical about what automakers say about design concepts though - I understand protection, but it seems like it is wrapped up so no one would see - secrecy?..and if it is an old concept from 5 years ago that is fully developed, i would think someone on the net would have leaked a pic or something....I think this would be a good design direction, despite only seeing the form....I'd buy it. From what I can tell, it looks different, aggressive, and I like it. Concept Fishes, Narco.

I think a little more needs to be visible to truly tell, but, and excuse me here, BMWs styling efforts haven't exactly hit the drop-dead gorgeous mark in recent years. If this were the basis for a new CSI with classic design elements from the 1970s car, I'd say the Mercedes CL would have some competition.

5 year old design study? So does the "cash for clunkers" bill apply?

how come a five year old design study has been kept in the studio for so long? Never heard of this before, and usually when they decide to make a full scale model, and make it drivable or at least moveable, it is being shown. can't believe anyone at bmw have thought this to have been a failed concept study and then decieded that it shouldn't be showed..
