Porsche Cayman Shooting Brake Uncovered? Probably not but worth a look...

Porsche Cayman Shooting Break

For some time now rumours of a Posche Cayman Shooting Brake model have been circulating. Now this image of the supposed car has been posted on the Porsche section at Flickr. Most probably it is a fake as it was posted by a user with no known credentials. Or it could be real; the user could be an insider screaming for some hype for Porsche's next shocker. In any case a screen shot of the car has appeared on the upcoming XBox 360 racing game Forza Motorsport 3.

There was a Porsche mule spied only last month and thought to be this elusive Shooting Brake. The latest image seems to have been taken during a studio photo shoot. What appears to be a man adjusting a light is seen on the other side of the car, presumably working on the instructions of the photographer who has our view of the car. From what is visible there is no B-pillar, thus suggesting a concept rather than a finished product.

Of course this whole thing could be a very good Photoshop job by some clever graphics champion. One way or the other the answer will come at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. FM3 releases in October, after the show. Woe unto the one who leaked this shot if indeed it turns out to be real.

Thanks to Forest for the tip!

Porsche is going down the tube, WTF is this nonsense? The GT3 is their saving grace, let's just hope they don't mess with that.

i always thought the only direction that porsche styling could go was "better" if this pic has any hint of validity, i was sadly mistaken. who am i kidding? it's fake. although that curve running from the side skirt to wheel arch certainly does look many times better than it's usual presentation.

The styling of the Panamera is better than what... a clay pot made by semi-blind albanian orphane?! The styling of the all new cars is bad. I like the older generations of almost every model. Only Aston Marin are constantly doing great designs... even the Rapide i good looking.

Definatley photoshopped. The reflections are weird and grainy. I really hope it isn't real, because Porsche have managed to create a car uglier than the Panamera!

It's photoshopped, I love all porsches, the panamera is beautiful, but this one is uglier than a g-wiz... I really really hope it's not real.

You had it spelt correctly in the title and I felt all happy until I read you making the same mistake of "Shooting Brake" in the article itself.

So nearly there...

But just one more time, IT'S SHOOTING BREAK!!!!!

Your comment is no suprise. What is so hard with accepting it is shooting 'brake?' It is NOT a mistake. That is just how it is spelt, now get over it!

Indeed Shooting Break has been the correct traditional word. But over time the industry has grown to accept Brake, in the same way that the English have grown to accept the word "gonna".

The English do not accept the word "gonna"!

The traditional term is "Shooting Break". That Brake is now accepted because people couldn't be arsed to get it right doesn't wash with me. It's the rape of our language!

No Shooting BRAKE story is complete without Bristol's correction. :D

Once again, break origin is French and brake is English. they're both correct...

Also, if this were real, why would Porsche use the old-design rear light design on a new model? This photo shows an altered Cayman prior to this year's face lift.

Ok, think about it for a while. BMW Z3 coupe made sense - engine was in front, lots of unused space in the back. Buth here we have a mid-engined car! 2/3 of the additional cargo space would be taken by engine bay!

on the other hand, the whole photo is a fake. the roof looks not in place, lacks reflections and the windows on the other side are far too low.

rubbish :)

agree, very bad photoshop

the roof doesn't fit the profile of the body

why not at least curve the roof so it fits the profile?

Fake as hell- the front is 997, the back a squished boxster, the cayman name, and I do believe the roof line is a SEAT, tilted with the front up.Also- look at the gap in front of the windscreen, that gap belongs in a 1960's model, or more to the point, the renderer belongs in "simple photoshop editing" class - I'm dissappointed at the lack of effort. Ps. It looks like a..... R8 ;) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
