A mix of evo grille? & it looks like a CS concept or something I don't know this one.

Though Chris Bangle may have left the BMW design department for good, his influence can certainly be seen in the styling of this car. Notice how the masking tape extending from front to rear tapers to a fine point just ahead of the rear wheel arch. Stunning. Further use of tape can be seen on the grille where we see a graceful upward rise of this fabulous material reminiscent of a vestigial camel-like hump. Groundbreaking. And how about Bangles' discreet use of supple grey fabric to accentuate the roof line. Staggering. The conspicuous use of BIMMERPOST.com script in place of a belt line pinstripe is a design cue almost certainly to be copied by Pininfarina, the design studio of choice for Ferrari. Well done BMW.

looks like another station wagon/SAV to me. what does this make, four? five? versions of the same car in the last year?

they need to bring back the Erkel car. the one seater with the door on the front of the car--one of the all-time classics haha.
i don't know why they keep messing around with this same station wagon-like profile. they are saturating the whole god damn market with subaru outback looking station wagons, SAVs, and "GTs" and cancelling all the cool cars like the M3 CS and the CS Concept. BMW, like Porsche, is losing its soul for the sake of niche markets and it's pissing this car guy off!

It maybe a four door coupe like the CS concept look at the side view. There seems to be a few lines that indicate four doors. I can't wait to see it!

look at the shut line of the door. if it was a 2 door car, it makes the door too small for a car that size. also, it's very straight. cars with 4 doors have a straight shut line. cars with 2 doors have a curved one (generally). hence i think it's got 4 doors.

Well at least it's not another crossover, let's thank the car gods for that.

I like it, i think that it will look good. I cant put my finger on it but the rear ends shape looks familiar. The design doesn't look like it is really following the rest of the lines design language though...

Im not critizizing, I think that itll look good, and i like what i can see at the moment (guilty BMW design fan) - All I was saying was the overall shape of it doesnt follow the rest of the lineups. I guess that could be becuase there is no bangle butt, becuase he left.

Please be a true 2 seater sports car design (ala M1 hommage)and not another of these these compressed 4 door into 2 door sedans.

It certainly looks interesting - and very large. I like the overall shape, especially the greenhouse and tail. Sweet! The "Pontiac Lives!" contrasting plastic cladding / "ground effects" look like an adolescent add-on. Surely the shapes and colors could have been better integrated. The front end is grotesque - nice shapes and ideas, but TOO OVERWROUGHT. Take it down a notch and it should look great. But, it it a 3er or perhaps might it be a 6er concept of some sort? I agree with Renegade and share thanks that it is NOT and SUV. Looking forward to the reveal.

that's not a BMW, it is actually a prototype of Mitsubishi's next lancer
August 6, 2009 3:00 am
i really hope that this is how the next 3-series will look
because this is a simply stunning car: exactly the direction BMW should be going in
If they do put this concept into production, they will be a class above MB, Audi, etc.

Good post, 100% agree. Styling and design, much like engineering has to move forward. It generates interest and demonstrates leadership in the field.

No no no! Evo X grill is meant to stay on the Evo. On a BMW it would just look crap.
August 6, 2009 7:10 am
Just like the Alfa 156 rear lights should have stayed on the Alfa and not a Mitsubishi. BTW, I'm not worried about that, production BMWs have the split (Kidney) grill anyways.

It looks like: http://www.worldcarfans.com/109061619952/mini2/bmw-m-concept-envisions-audi-r8-rival :)

The car is to long, especially its wheelbase. I would prefer a real sports car to compete to the 911. Please not again a crossover! Keep it simple and straightforward !!!
August 6, 2009 7:38 am
The profile seems very attractive, subject to if they can ditch their new ugly, flat, huge nostrils as per the 7, X1, and 5GT. Looking forward to see its face!

I am not sure how anyone sees a good looking car here. i don't. The sills look rubbish and the front looks an utter mess. The silhouette is sexy, but the detailing is very likely to ruin this car.

I bet the side mirrors are cameras on the side lol! but seriously. I think BMW has something going here. if this could actually turn out to be a very appealing and proper electric car then i would give it the credit it deserves. lets see what unfolds in the future for this car.
