So what's wrong with that. The entire world buys tones of stuff made by Chinese. At least this is made in and by British, just owned by Indians.

Interestingly TATA did not have anything to do with this car, apart from making available the money to ensure that it was produced.

sorry but the 2010 s-class has so much more technological advancement and makes this vehicle look as basic as its styling.

I agree, but not fair 2 compare- this is more along the lines of passion BM portrays (ie. the 7), rather than the S - class.Completely different clients - the S is up against the Lexus Ls

not true at all. both the XJ and S-Class are considered wafty limousines. the LS is completely outclassed by both i feel, although it's along the same lines. the BMW is trying to be the sporty, younger one, and pits itself agains the Audi S8 and the Maserati Quattroporte. i have to say, i'm liking this low volume, niche car thing that Jag have got going on at the moment. they're like the British Maserati. fantastic. (and by the by, as a British Indian i take exception to the fact that ppl resent that Jag is owned by an Indian company. being proud of both my heritages, I'm glad that it's designed and made in Britain, and backed by the common sense and hard work ethic that India has to offer.)

@Sub39h: I would have to disagree with you on the subject of the Quattroporte. The Quattroporte is more of a M5/RS6/E63 fighter. The Quattroporte is much smaller than the 7er. Moreover, Jaguar is aiming to exit the wafty limousine segment of the market and follow more along the lines of the A8. I say this because of the design of the XJ and XF.

whoever gets driven in this car has class compared to someone being driven in an S-class... i think that's the difference. a person getting this car knows about passion, and history... a person getting an S-class is a wealthy business man who really doesn't care about automobiles or history, just that its the biggest benz in the line up. that's my view at least

Shame about the rear end really and that strip of wood that loops around the dash, I would much rather have an S, 7, LS or Quattroporte

yea i'm not feeling that wood wrap around either... it even has a cheap "Jaguar" badge right in the front... JUST to reassure you, you ARE in fact driving a jag lmao

i'll take the portfolio LWB with tdi engine. because it will be exempt from luxury car tax in australia if the 7L/100km fuel figures are verified. big savings! not to mention the 0-100 time is 0.6 seconds faster than the 96 xjr iused to own. nice engine!

S class interior looks boring as hell, some of technologies from S class are not really needed, my uncle has a top of the line Lorinser L65S ( base on S65AMG )with loaded features such as night vision, distronic plus ..and he never uses it as frequently, jag is more about appearance , feel more luxury and comfortable than Mer S class. Beside that, new XJ is for you to drive and feel, not like when you drive S class, people think you are working as a driver carrying boss around town.

End of the day, with all this configuration, I'm still ordering a TATA Jaguar. Yawn! I just cannot live with that thought of driving a piece of TATA junk every morning for an ?80,000 pound car. No thanks!

yawn! your opinion is wonderfully insightful and shares a significant amount of knowledge with everyone. thank you.

I think it's still a piece of Ford junk, TATA hasn't owned them long enough for this car to be TATA, same with the XF, these cars take a few years to design and build, plus im willing to bet that there are a decent ammount of ford parts in there.

HATE it. I have always loved the XJ, and the last couple of years (2006-2009 especially), the XJ was pure sex, class and driving perfection. The lines of the last XJ were so beautiful. The XJ was always the sleeper luxo sedan, compared to MBZ, BMW and Lexus. Jag is reliable too!!! They scored #1 in JD Power for reliability and satisfaction too. Way ahead of BMW & MBZ (and I'm a Benz owner!)

whats wrong with TATA ?? i dont think they do something wrong to car manufacture, they actually save british pride, TATA is just a company which is having money and invest there money to make more and more money, business, thats it. India is out of this story, let it alone, please dont bring racist comments like a 10 years old kid

Jag's new XJ is going to blow the competition into the weeds, when you see it in the flesh, the others just look years behind...

Why because of all those LEDs on the dash?

no b/c design wise jag is slowy pulling away from the rest. look at the XF and now the XJ. it's brilliant and fresh compared to Benz or bmw or even lexus. all those other brands might have technology which jag doesn't have but jag makes up for it in class, reliability, and history. jag looks like a whole new car company with the new models just coming and coming out of the design studio.

Even Jaguar's technology is on a par with the competition, the gadgets in these Jags are very inmpressive, and all these new Jags recently have something about them the others cannot compete against, class, style & x-factor!!!!!

teuton I find your comment offensive and rude in the extreme.Stop using racist comments AT ONCE, or you will be reported. Tatas are very good and reliable cars, eligible for competition with brands such as VW and Honda This XJ is one of the best cars in the world
