Illusions of grandeur?

Sibling rivalry? Illusions of grandeur? We aren't sure, but our spies have managed to catch the upcoming "Grand Bentley" disguised as a Rolls Royce.

While the odd camouflage hides much of the car's styling, we can see several details including the Grand's massive LED-infused headlights, Continental-inspired taillights, and a C-pillar that mimics the beautiful Bentley Brooklands. Even with these new spy photos, our best glimpse of the car still comes from several smuggled images taken at the company's headquarters in Crewe.

Power is expected to be provided by an updated 6.75-liter V8 engine with at least 550 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque. This should enable the all-wheel monster to run from 0-60 mph in under 5 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 200 mph (320 km/h).

Unlike the outgoing Arnage, the new Grand Bentley will only be offered in one wheelbase. While this many disappoint some wealthy clients, the move helps Bentley keep costs down and speed up production.

Look for the new Grand Bentley to be officially unveiled at the Pebble Beach Concours D'Elegance on August 16th.

Just goes to show how much of a Rolls Royce wannabe the Grand Bentley is.

I think that this is one of the very few cars that would look better with the camouflage on it. The spy pics from the factory were awful.

This is a problem of the whole VW company. They have no RWD platform (look at Phaeton, A8, Bentley). This makes the cars to heavy...

The thing is- it is not a car to be driven round "the ring" at breakneck speeds- it's a car that is meant to be easier to drive and control, while still keeping you comfortable, while peasants in ricers scream by, as you gently shake your head at their lack of class...

At least they tell us this way who is copying from whom.

Grats to Bentley for now officially being RollsRoyce copycat.

This looks exactly like the spy photos released from inside Crewe not long ago. This car without its camo really looks nothing like a Rolls-Royce. Also consumers will find much better handling in this vehicle due to its AWD system. If you are driving this vehicle and are concerned about fuel economy then you cant really afford it.

Still like the Arnage alot more

Why bother to disguise it?

I really hope this thing grows on me. I want to like it, I've always found the Arnage range boring, except maybe the Brooklands. But that's because it's looked the same since before I was born. It's funny how Rolls has finally made a baby to take on the Continental, and Bentley is simultaneously making a new flagship to topple the Phantom range.

Judging by the spy photos we saw earlier, they're going for a retro revival with the front end. Rolls did a good job with theirs, but they had a massive radiator grille to lead with. Bentley, instead, are using traditionally-located headlights. I hope it works. How embarrassing if it doesn't.

Lastly, AWD. It's not necessary. No one is going to want their Bentley Grand Mothership to handle and grip the road like their Audi. It's just a sign of VW's parts-bin rummaging. Just do something bespoke for once VW, please. The Phantom is the best car in the world because it's unique...

god you guys have no sense of humor.

the bentley boys are just having fun. instead of your kaliedescope (sp?) BMW camou or MB SLS Armour, they just decide to put on a RR skin.

TESTIFY! sarcasm is lost on many.

Although that said, I'm now sold on the RR Phantom in flat black.

bentley always has a weird way of disguising their test mules. there were pics here a while back of the continental flying spur being tested while disguised as a merc s-class. it's like a practical joke they play or something. they know it won't really fool the most keen of auto enthusiast, and normal people won't really care. it's like they do it just so that it'll be pictured and showed as a warning to their competitors: "our answer to your car is coming".

I saw the arnage on top gear once, it can drift, so this better not be an 4wd car.
