The Kia VG made its debut at the Seoul Motor Show in April as the KND-5 Concept after continuous spy pictures kept cropping up. It is slated as a premium sedan that is set to replace the current Amanti and compete against cars like the Volkswagen Passat. These rendered pictures of the car show Kia's signature H-shape front grille and LED lights.
Reports suggest that the VG will be based on the next-generation Hyundai Azera platform and boast a 3.5-litre V6 Lambda engine. It also features a roomier interior than the Amanti and should climb higher up the luxury ladder, thanks to good quality materials. Front-wheel-drive is still going to be the default option but rumours suggest a Haldex AWD system will also be offered.
The Kia/ Hyundai partnership continues to tease with even more upscale cars, confirming its intentions of challenging industry leaders. Hopefully the bread and butter models that customers support the most are not scaled up too high for affordability.
