Rendered Speculation: Ferrari 458 Italia Spyder

Pininfarina-designed Ferrari 458 Italia imagined as a Spyder model

Right on the same day that Ferrari unveiled its new 458 Italia, no sooner do we have a rendered speculation as to what a 458 Italia Spyder would look like.

Yes, it doesn't take much to imagine the Pininfarina-designed 458 Italia as a topless model. It's a mid-rear engine Ferrari, after all, and the car's sloping rear roof-line does almost demand a Spyder derivative. But this image somehow makes the prospect all the more inevitable and, literally, renders it real.

The details on the new 458 Italia were covered in an earlier story, so there is no need to retread them here. Ferrari chose to name the 458 after its native land because, as they say in the press release, Italy is synonymous with "style, creative flair, passion and cutting-edge technology." True, perhaps, but that description applies more readily to Ferrari itself.

And will Ferrari now be naming all its cars after places? As it has with the recent California model and now unveiling the 458 Italia. No objection here, just wondering what other places would make good Ferrari names.

Any suggestions?

This is by far the best name for a Ferrari.

Ferrari already have: Europa America California Daytona Maranello Modena Fiorano Italia

Is the same "artist" also going to Photoshop a set if tricolore stripes down the car and magically render the 458 Stradale/Scuderia?

I agree with them on the fact that Italy is synonymous with all of those things. Thats why I think the convertible should be call the 458 Canada.

Why when you look through the wind screen you can see some hard-top and a B-pillar? Is this a half convertible?

As far as my memory goes, a lot of recnt Ferraries were named after places, cities especially. Modena, Fiorano, Maranello...

Perhaps a Ferrari Monza or San Marino could work.

...and yet, look at the front intake of this Ferrari, BMW - how two "kidneys" of yours could be used with no "grilling" at all if employing designers, not barbecue enthusiasts.

Indeed seems like Mr. Sibal was in such a hurry to chop the new Ferrari that he didn't notice such a noob mistake like removing the other pillars through the window. Too bad it made news before he noticed.

The rendering doesn't look good...the details, like the B-pillar, can be viewed through the front window and the transom is finished with awkward technique...Anyway, thanks for promoting this new Ferrari Model.
