BMW 760i & 760Li in Depth

BMW's new 760i/ Li range is being sold as the ultimate luxury sedan by its makers. Undoubtedly the most powerful 7 Series - and currently the second most powerful production BMW in the range - ever made, the 760i/ Li not only gives power to the driver but it presents it in a box of opulence and self-indulgence.

The 6.0-litre (5.972cc) V12 engine features TwinPower Turbo technology. The high precision technology gives it a 400kW (544hp) power rating at 5,250rpm, along with 750Nm of thrust available from a lowly 1,500rpm. This torque is then delivered all the way up to 5,000rpm. Acceleration takes a brisk 4.6 seconds from standstill to 100km/h in both the short and long-wheelbase models. Top speed is limited to 250km/h.

The EU5-compliant engine emits C02 gases averaging 299 g/km thanks to an average fuel consumption number of 12.9 litres/100km (21.9 mpg imp) in the 760i. In the 760Li the same engine does 303 g/km and averages 13.0 litres/100km (21.7 mpg imp) from the 82 litre petrol tank. Part of its success is the new 8-speed automatic gearbox that is said to run smoothly and precisely, offering both sporty and comfortable changes.

How the flagship distinguishes itself from other 7 Series models is via a few details that include an extra-wide and slightly concave chrome kidney grille frame as well as bars contoured powerfully to the front, the V12 model designation on the chrome-plated gill elements, and an additional chrome bar between the two dual tailpipes. Nineteen inch alloys are fitted as standard while the front and rear tyres measure 245/45 R19 and 275/40 R19 respectively. Both the 5.072m i and the 5.212m Li have the same standard wheel and rubber.

Comfort creatures include the unlimited use of the Internet (where available), four-zone automatic air conditioning, an electrical heater in the rear footwells, Park Distance Control, an optional panoramic glass sunroof, an 80GB sat nav system, a Professional hifi system which comprises of 16 loudspeakers, a DVD player, an AUX-in and a USB connection as well as a 12GB music file storage compartment.

Epic car. Agreed. I wouldn't be surprised if Audi ripped out the W12 engine from the Bentley Conti, to no fault of their own. Would be right in the face of the 760.

Do you know the difference between a BMW and a porcupine?.........................................................................................................The BMW has the pricks on the inside. That stigma is exactly why I would never touch it not to mention its hideous.
